UN Secretary-General sends condolences to bereaved families, calls on 'both sides' to 'refrain' from 'further escalating' the 'situation.'

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday released a statement the murderous stabbing attack in the Israeli town of Halamish.

"The Secretary-General conveys his condolences to the bereaved and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured," Guterres' spokesperson said in a statement. "He reiterates that the sanctity of religious sites should be respected as places for reflection, not violence."

The statement also called on both sides to "refrain from any actions or words that could further escalate an already volatile situation."

Earlier on Friday, Guterres expressed "concern" over the Arab rioters in Jerusalem.

"The sanctity of religious sites should be respected as places for reflection, not violence," Guterres' spokesman said in a statement.

19-year-old terrorist Omar al-Abed on Friday night stabbed four family members partaking of their Shabbat (Sabbath) meal. Three of the victims were killed and a fourth was seriously wounded.

Since the terror attack last Friday, in which three terrorists stabbed two policemen on the Temple Mount, Israel has implemented additional security measures. However, the Jordanian body which runs the Temple Mount does not approve of the measures. As a result, the Palestinian Arabs have spent the last week rioting and attempting to harm Israeli security forces.
