Officials close to Abbas described the trip as 'routine'

Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, 85, was rushed to Germany on Monday for a medical check, according to media reports.

According to anonymous sources cited by AFP, Abbas left the presidential compound in Ramallah in the West Bank via helicopter for Jordan, from where he was to fly to Germany for tests before returning on Thursday.

Abbas previously sought medical treatment in Berlin in 2019, according to The Times of Israel.
