Yesterday, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, was appointed as chief Rabbi of Morocco with the blessing of the king. He now has a diplomatic and Supreme Court Justice status.

The ceremony was held in the Bet El Synagogue in Casablanca, attended by hundreds of people, including Moroccan officials who came under the guidance of the King to honor the Rabbi during his ceremony. A special prayer was also held in honor of the Moroccon King.

The Moroccan community made of thousands of Jews provides services to about 100,000 Israelis who visit Morocco every year.
