From Monsey to Detroit, from Lakewood to Baltimore, from Brooklyn to Australia, phone lines were humming in the week leading up to Shavuos.

Starting Thursday, May 21, Bnos Agudas Yisroel launched Bnos Chessed Week, inviting all girls in 2nd to 6th grades to cheer up a friend or family member with a daily 5-minute phone call. The participants would log their time on a special form and submit it after Shavuos to enter a raffle. Girls all over the world responded, and the program took-off!

Mrs. Chana Baila Hass, National Director of Bnos Agudath Israel, knew that many girls were participating, but she was still blown away when the forms (more than 2000!) poured in after Shavuos. And better than the volume, was the positive feedback:

“What a great project!”

“Thank you for this beautiful project! Dena really spent much longer than 5 minutes on each call, and she and her grandparents all enjoyed the time!”

“This was such a nice idea, thank you! My daughter completed the chessed calling project (calling her grandparents, great-aunt, and great-grandmother) for each of the days.”

Mrs. Hass even got an email from a child of one of the seniors who was called:

“I just wanted to say thank you very much to your volunteers for reaching out to my mother and calling her. Keep on doing the great things you do!”

With so many completed forms, Bnos decided to do not one, but three raffles! They picked the lucky winners yesterday, one from Lakewood, one from Australia, and one from Monsey. Each girl got a $25 gift card.

“Such a simple idea brought such huge rewards,” says Mrs. Hass.

Girls, even though the program is over, you can keep on calling your family and friends! Plus, you can still be part of other Bnos programs, like Make it Count (call 641-715-3800, access code 806845#) or the Bnos Hotline (720-721-4724)
