Jerusalem, Israel - Feb. 8, 2024 - Tens of thousands united and participated in an evening prayer rally in light of the intense warfare in the north and south of Israel, and the many dozens held captive by Hamas. Many have fallen in battle, and many others are wounded in body and soul.
The rally saw the participation of tens of thousands of Israelis from all sectors and denominations, including families of the hostages, led by prominent rabbis and luminaries of the generation, members of the Council of Torah Sages, Israel's chief rabbis, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, Rabbi David Lau, leaders of the Hasidic dynasties headed by the Gerrer Rebbe, the rabbi of the Western Wall and the holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, rabbis, and heads of yeshivas. They gathered as one - with one heart - to annul the decrees and hardships afflicting the Jewish nation.
During the prayer, Psalms and penitential prayers were recited in the face of the dire situation, pleading for the salvation of the people of Israel, the release of the captives, the well-being of the soldiers, comfort for the bereaved families, and the healing of all the wounded.
Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz: " This prayer rally reflects the unity of the people of Israel in the face of the barbaric warfare and attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah. The people of Israel are united in prayer and support for the soldiers and the families of the captives. It is a sacred sight to see so many Jews praying with faith, believing that indeed our prayers will be heard in heaven, and that the new month coming upon us will bring good things."
