Baltimore, MD - Sept. 21, 2023 - Baltimore County police are investigating a hate crime at the Ner Tamid Cemetery in Rosedale where hate symbols, including a swastika, were spray-painted on its entrance, according to WBALTV. The act was particularly distressing to the Jewish community as it occurred near Yom Kippur, a significant holiday. Brad Kauffman, whose grandparents are interred there, expressed his shock and recalled his mother's horror upon discovering the graffiti while visiting her father's grave. While this is the first incident of its kind at this cemetery, similar acts have taken place in other locations. Police Chief Robert McCullough emphasized the department's commitment to investigating such hate crimes thoroughly. The search for the perpetrator continues as cemetery staff work to erase the graffiti.
