At Fort Meade, 800 doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine were improperly handled, according to Pentagon officials.

Moderna and the Defense Health Agency conducted a review and determined the doses nevertheless pose no risk to those at Fort Meade who received them. However, everyone who received one of the affected shots is being offered a repeat dose, since it's unclear if the vaccines will offer the expected protection if handled outside their recommended temperature range.

The 80 vials of vaccines were administered on April 7 and 12 at the McGill Training Center.
