Due to potentially slippery and hazardous conditions, the National Weather Service has extended the winter weather advisory period.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Baltimore County is under a winter weather advisory until 1 p.m. Tuesday, after the National Weather Service extended the advisory period that was to end at 10 a.m.

Snowfall in the Baltimore metro area has ranged from 0.2 to 1.4 inch, according to preliminary data released Tuesday morning.

Freezing rain and additional ice accumulations of up to 0.1 inch Tuesday could lead to slippery conditions.

"Hazards may linger into this afternoon as temperatures will only rise slowly this morning," the National Weather Service advised.

Drivers should slow down and be extra careful. Pedestrians are encouraged to be mindful of their first few steps outside due to the potential for icy and slippery conditions on steps, sidewalks and driveways. Read more at Patch
