A tornado watch is in effect for much of Maryland Monday, issued by the National Weather Service.

MARYLAND — A tornado watch has been issued for multiple jurisdictions across Maryland, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials issued the watch at 1:05 p.m., and it will remain in effect until 7 p.m. on Monday.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for the development of a tornado.

These areas are under the tornado watch: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Harford, Kent, Prince George's, Queen Anne's, St. Mary's, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester counties and Baltimore City.

The watch follows a hazardous weather outlook the National Weather Service issued Monday morning for Maryland.
