More than a dozen people were arrested during Saturday's protests held in Baltimore in wake of the death of George Floyd in Minnesota.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said Saturday's demonstrations were largely peaceful, but 12 adults and two juveniles were arrested on charges related to the protests that include burglary, aggravated assault, attempted arson and failure to obey a lawful order.

"If you're coming Baltimore to protest peacefully, we welcome you. But if you're coming here to throw bricks or break storefront windows or break police vehicles, you're going to find yourself in a jail cell. That's a promise," Mayor Jack Young said Sunday.

Hundreds of demonstrators began the afternoon with a motorcade through city streets protesting police brutality and Floyd's death. Floyd was a 46-year-old black man who died last week after a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, used his knee to pin him down in an incident captured on video.

By the evening, crowds gathered at City Hall and other points of downtown Baltimore. Some people in the crowd threw objects at police and others broke windows at The Gallery and Harborplace among other places. Harrison said there was destruction of property at eight locations and burglaries at 11 locations.

"For those who wish to agitate and incite violence during what was mostly peaceful demonstrations, your actions will absolutely not be tolerated," Harrison said.

The mayor described the instigators as agitators trying to rile things up, but the majority of the protesters helped control them.

Harrison said officers "continued to serve with an unparalleled level of professionalism, tolerance and restraint."

Despite the incidences of violence, the demonstrations were largely peaceful through the day. Read more at WBALTV
