Baltimore, MD - Dec. 24, 2025 - 'Tis the season for porch pirates. Every year around the holidays, a surge in deliveries leads to a spike in stolen packages. But this year, the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office is flipping the script on thieves with packages that fight back.
In an effort to thwart theft, the newly formed Neighborhood Services Unit has rolled out a GPS decoy package program, placing fake deliveries around the city designed to track thieves the moment they strike.
Once the box is taken, deputies can follow the signal in real time.
Sheriff Sam Cogen says his deputies teamed up with community association presidents to identify hotspots for the boxes to be placed. Within the last week, he says they’ve already delivered five arrests.... Read More: FOX45
