Jerusalem, Israel - Sept. 24, 2024  - The Jerusalem Design Week returns for the 13th time, fro September 19 - 26, 2024, at Hansen House in Jerusalem, Israel. As in previous years, Design Week showcases dozens of exhibitions, installations, events, and unique projects featuring many local and international designers.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion spoke briefly at the opening event on Thursday evening.

This year, the theme of Jerusalem Design Week is “The Ark” - the story of Noah’s Ark suggests many questions.  What will our world look like when the water recedes? How will we rise back up from this material and spiritual ruin? What is an ark? It is a place where we survive the flood. We gather there to preserve life and collect the raw materials we need to rebuild after the flood.

How does a cultural event proceed in times of crisis? We can take action and make a difference is the thinking of the organizers. "Through creative work, we can begin to heal and redesign our future."

This year, Jerusalem Design Week has aimed to support design initiatives and actions that turn our gaze inward—to the design sphere—and outward—to society at large—and consider the day after the current crisis.

As always the exhibits are astoundingly unique and creative, many hard to explain in a few words. The photo essay includes a few of the works spread outside on the Hansen House grounds, inner courtyard, and in various buildings.
