Ministers, rabbis, decide to skip ceremony after Netanyahu orders no handshakes, talking. Netanyahu: Be there or be square.

Several Israeli ministers are planning to skip US President Donald Trump's official welcome ceremony at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport on Monday, after they were told they cannot shake Trump's hand or speak to him.

Israel's Chief Rabbis David Lau and Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef are also planning to skip Monday's ceremony, a source told Arutz Sheva.

After Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu heard of these plans, he dismissed the meeting he was having with the coalition's party heads, and ordered all ministers to attend.

On Sunday morning, Netanyahu said Israel would welcome President Trump and his wife Melania "with open arms."

"President Trump and his wife Melania will arrive tomorrow for an historical visit to Israel," Netanyahu said. "Senior White House and government officials will be arriving together with them."

"This is Trump's first trip out of the US since the elections, and we are honored that he chose to come to our country and our capital city of Jerusalem.

"We will strengthen our security ties, which grow stronger every day. We will speak about how to bring peace. Mr. President, Israel welcomes you with open arms."
