Jerusalem, Israel - May 9, 2024  - Delays continue in the demolition of terrorist homes: deep into 2024, the security establishment has yet to destroy 8 homes of terrorists who carried out attacks in 2023.

Im Tirtzu in response: this is not how you deter violence and terrorists.

According to a report by Im Tirtzu, in 2023, 20 terrorist attacks were carried out in which 36 people were murdered.

In the aftermath of these attacks, the security system executed 24 orders of demolition for terrorist homes, but the attacks involved 32 terrorists, whose identities are known - that is to say there are still 8 terrorist homes standing.

Two homes are in the demolition process, both having only undergone mapping. Five terrorist homes that are not in the demolition process at all. One terrorist's home, intended for bulldozing, was cancelled. Another demolition order was issued for the home of a terrorist who failed to cause any casualties in his attack. A petition against the demolition of a home was recently rejected and the home has not yet been demolished.

In 2024, 13 terrorists were involved in terrorist attacks in which 12 people were murdered. From the aforementioned list of terrorists - only two demolition orders were carried out. 12 homes are still in the demolition process, where: five homes have been mapped, six homes have a notice of intention to destroy, one home was sealed and a repossession order was issued.

Alon Schwarzer, head of the research division of the Im Tirtzu movement: ''This is not how you create deterrence. It is illogical that deep into the year 2024 there are still terrorist homes from 2023 that have not been destroyed. The entire concept of deterrence by the State of Israel in the use of demolishing terrorists' houses is damaged as a result. The security system must be determined to demolish the terrorists' homes, and we understand that we are no longer on October 6th. Terrorists' homes must be destroyed as quickly as possible.''
