Baltimore, MD - Dec. 11, 2022 - Last Sunday, December 4, a beautiful showing of parents of 8th grade talmidim, intrigued about what they have heard about Mesivta Shaarei Chaim, converged upon the Mesivta’s current location, the Etz Chaim Center. After a few minutes of “Meet & Greet” and being awed by the beautiful spread set up for them, parents were led into the social hall where the event began. Harav Yisroel Meir Lebovits, shlit”a, Shaarei Chaim’s celebrated ninth grade Maagid Shiur, began by giving the attendees ‘A taste of Ninth Grade’, a special shiur for parents to enable them to experience firsthand the clarity, geshmake and warmth that their son would experience daily in the ninth grade classroom.

Harav Daniel Wilhem, shlit”a, our Rosh Mesivta and the one who founded and constantly guides the Mesivta, attempted to answer the following questions for the attendees: Why Shaarei Chaim? and What is unique to Shaarei Chaim? He was followed by our menahel, Harav Yona Yaakov Lapidus, shlit”a, who capitalized on the Shaarei Chaim theme “Gateway to Gadlus” by describing the myriad ways in which Shaarei Chaim opens the ‘Gateway to Gadlus’ for each of its talmidim. A beautiful video capped the presentations and visually summed up the recurrent theme.

The standing room only, overflow crowd were then invited and encouraged to meet with the hanhala and Rabbeim of the Mesivta for a highly energized question and answer open discussion forum. While participating in these discussions, parents were welcome to enjoy the beautifully presented refreshments and to take home a small gift prepared specially for their son – a glimpse into the warmth they would be experiencing upon attending the Mesivta. It seemed obvious by the fact that the Open House attendees remained in the social hall long after the program had ended, that they felt energized and ready to spread the Shaarei Chaim message and vision to their sons and others in the community.

Many parents have requested an event geared towards the potential talmidim themselves so they too can experience the phenomenon that is Shaarei Chaim! Therefore, due to popular demand, we are inviting fathers and sons to an exclusive Melave Malka  Motzei Shabbos, January 7 at 8:15pm at the Mesivta in the Etz Chaim building. The event will begin with the Rabbeim leading a special seder in the Bais Hamedrash, culminating in a trademark shiur from our ninth grade Rebbe, Rav Yisroel Meir Lebovits. We'll then proceed to our spacious social hall for a delicious Melave Malka, music and opportunities to hear from other members of the Shaarei Chaim hanhala. Besides being geshmake, this seder and Melava Malka will be a unique opportunity for fathers and sons to see other bachurim/families who are interested in the Mesivta, and a chance to experience the Mesivta and interact with some of their current talmidim first-hand. As there are limited slots available for this event, please RSVP as soon as possible by sending an email to msc@shaareichaimbaltimore.org or calling 410-656-9827.
