About the Position
The assistant teacher will understand and promote the school’s mission, vision, policies, and procedures both within and outside the immediate school community. The assistant teacher is responsible for supporting the lead teacher with providing an instructional program in accordance to the Ohr Chadash philosophy that supports the individual needs of the children.
Primary Responsibilities:
Adhere to company and safety policies and procedures
Assist the lead teacher with providing the children with a “prepared environment”
Keep the classroom clean and inviting
Assist with individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional and academic areas
Assist the children by moving around – choosing work, returning work when the child completes
his task
Teach small group lessons
Encourage individual work time to promote independence as well as group work to promote socialization
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents and co-workers
Participate in all school programs
Assist at lunch while helping children to learn how to help themselves
Allow children to be as independent as possible
