Assistant Program Director

About the Position

The Edward A. Myerberg Center, an innovative community center for adults 55+, is looking for a full-time Assistant Program Director that will manage and develop fitness and wellness programs for seniors, including virtual and onsite classes. The Assistant Program Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the Fitness Center and maintain the facility and equipment, as well as supervise Fitness Center staff and fitness class instructors, and assist Program Director as needed with onsite and virtual programs. This position requires a strong background in (or ability to quickly learn) virtual technology, including video and audio.


This is NOT a remote position.




In this role, you will:

Recruit and supervise Fitness Center staff
Ensure Fitness Center is appropriately staffed during all operating hours
Ensure that members are given high quality services and assistance when needed
Ensure Fitness Center’s facility, bathrooms and studio are maintained clean, safe, and orderly
Work with Fitness Center team to achieve annual budget goals
Work with Program Director and Fitness Center team on creative monthly promotions and community outreach and partnerships to increase membership and revenue
Develop and manage fitness and wellness programs designed for adults 55+
Work with Program Director to develop health and wellness events for the Myerberg’s community
Start and host Zoom classes and upload video recordings to Virtual Center
Ensure rooms are setup appropriately for programs, including tables, chairs, technology, etc.
Provide general support for Program Director, as needed




What we're looking for:

Ability to work well with older adults and to understand their needs. Must have a pleasant disposition.
Microsoft Office and database experience required
Zoom experience highly preferred
Background in marketing/sales preferred
NCCA Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Certification preferred
CPR Certification required (or must be obtained within 90 days from date of hire)
Ability to work well with others and as part of a team
Ability to work evenings and weekends and be present in the office, as appropriate
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to move supplies or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, as needed
Ability to work on feet for the entire shift
Must have driver’s license / vehicle
