Lower and Middle School Division Chair 2019-2020


Sulam is a Jewish special education inclusion program that serves students with learning differences at Berman Hebrew Academy in Silver Spring, Maryland. It is a highly collaborative program that partners with all stakeholders; parents, students, general educators and specialists, to ensure a meaningful, high quality individualized program for each student. About the Position

We are seeking a lower school and middle school division chair to develop, co-ordinate and supervise programming for students. The ideal candidate will have expertise in special education, teaching methods and practices, administration and leadership, supervision of faculty, data collection and analysis, parent communication and relationship building.

Other responsibilities include:
*Planning individual schedules and programs for each student
*Co-ordinating and supervising day-to-day operations of program
*Supervising, supporting and evaluating teachers and instructional
*Facilitating staff development to ensure high quality educational
*Designing and overseeing implementation of individualized student program
*Co-ordinating development of Formal Education Plans, progress reports, and
report cards
*Communicating regularly with all stakeholders - parents, students,
*Facilitating organizational growth as a member of the Sulam leadership

Qualifications and skills required:
*Degree in Special Education (preferred)
*Minimum 5 years experience in teaching and administration
*Excellent oral and written communication
*Outstanding collaboration and teamwork
