Baltimore, MD - May 21, 2017 - Sefer Bamidbar is referred to as Chumash Hapekudim, the book of numbers. Parshas Bamidbar, with its counting of the generation that left Mitzrayim, needs to be read before Shavuos. The counting teaches us about the significance of every individual, as Hashem counts us out of His love for each one of us. However, it is not simply the value of a person or day that we recall in this time period—rather, it is the idea that things have significance, and are important. Rather than glossing over matters with generalizations, it is important to understand that every single aspect of life, just as every single letter of the Torah, has value and meaning.
