A high-ranking Israeli official has told i24news that the United States will be opening a consulate to deal with Palestinian affairs “soon,” Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
According to the report, the Biden administration has already informed Israel of its intentions and plans to move ahead unilaterally if it does not obtain a response from Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s government, which is no longer seen as under immediate threat of dissolving due to internal strife, now that the budget has passed.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump closed the consulate in 2019 after recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving the U.S. embassy to the city, merging its services with the consulate.

In my opinion, the roof of the Binyanei HaUma Convention Center in Jerusalem nearly blew off last night from the incredible energy generated inside. The occasion was a women's event I was privileged to host as part of Tzama, an annual Chasidic music festival. Baltimore County set a new record high in homicides on Tuesday.
Police were called to Stockmill Road in Pikesville for reports of a shooting around 5:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s murder marked Baltimore County’s 50th homicide in 2021. The previous record high was 49 in 2019.
On Nov. 11., the Director of Strategic Communications for the Baltimore County Police Department, Jeremy Silbert told C4 and Bryan Nehman that overall crime in the county was down.
With over a month to go before the new year, the number of homicides could continue to climb.

The Baltimore Board of Estimates on Wednesday approved putting two speed cameras on the Jones Falls Expressway.
There will be six speed cameras on the JFX, but only two will be activated at any given time. Drivers will encounter speed indicators showing how fast they are traveling. Motorists will be granted a 90-day grace period before $40 fines are levied.
"The total goal for this is to make people slow down," Baltimore City Transportation Director Steve Sharkey said.
The speed cameras are allowed under a state law passed by the General Assembly this year.

The Israeli government has approved new guidelines for pre-flight Covid tests before entry to Israel.
Travelers to Israel will be allowed to undergo an antigen (rapid) test up to 24 hours before departure, as an alternative to performing a PCR test. The new provision will take effect at midnight tonight. PCR tests will continue to be accepted, and may be performed anytime within 72 hours of a scheduled departure to Israel.
The price of an antigen test is generally significantly cheaper than the price of a PCR test, and results are often available within minutes. The antigen test must be taken at a recognized laboratory, and passengers must present their negative results in English.

Israel and the United States are likely dividing up responsibility for attacking targets related to the Iranian-led Shi’ite radical axis in Syria, a new report from an Israeli research center said on Wednesday.
The report, by the Alma Center, stated, “In every sector, the purpose of the attacks is different.” It added that the “quiet” sector – the “American sector” is geographically defined within “eastern Syria and includes al-Bukamal, al Mayadin, and Deir ez-Zor,” and that the “main objective of the attacks in this sector is meant to disrupt the entrenchment of Iranian-linked forces near the land corridor route.”

A commemorative monument in memory of Hagaon Rav Ovadiah Yosef zt”l has been placed in front of the rov’s home at 96 Sderot Rothschild in Tel Aviv, where Rav Ovadiha lived while serving as the city’s chief rabbi.

The Yerushalayim Municipality has advanced plans for a 9,000-home project in Atarot, an area of the city located beyond the pre-1967 lines, the Jerusalem Post reports. The international community and the Palestinian Authority have condemned the plan, which it warns would help cement Israel’s presence in an area of the city they designated as the future capital of a Palestinian state. The bodies of seven Moroccan-Jewish victims of the COVID-19 pandemic were flown to Israel last week after being interred in a Casablanca Jewish cemetery more than a year ago.
The transfer was arranged by ZAKA, an Israeli volunteer rescue and recovery organization which focuses on ensuring Jewish burial rites for victims of terror and natural disasters, as well as the Casablanca Chevra Kadisha, a local Jewish burial society.
Among the dead was Rabbi Sholom Eidelman, one of the first emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe who lived in Morocco for more than 60 years. A second funeral held 18 months after his death drew many of his students in Israel, including former Israeli Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, who was born and spent much of his childhood in Casablanca.

This past Motzei Shabbos, the Satmar Rebbe, Rav Aron, shlit”a, spoke harshly about astronomical apartment costs in Kiryas Yoel, and he urged a moratorium on purchases until prices level off.
Speaking at a Melave Malka, the Rebbe addressed the ongoing crisis, which is largely due to high demand and limited supply.
“No one should buy now,” the Rebbe said. “Wait, have patience, and prices will stabilize.”
The Rebbe seemed to take aim at sellers, saying, “Some owners bought at a relatively low price, yet are not embarrassed to ask over $1 million, not because of a home’s actual value, but because they want to make money.”

Manchester Evening News (MEN) and Metro have both apologized for publishing material that sparked outrage in the Jewish community.
Monday’s print issue of MEN included an article about the Hamas gunman who opened fire in Yerushalayim’s Old City a day earlier and killed 26-year-old Eliyahu Kay, while also wounding four others. The story’s headline said, “Palestinian shot dead after holy site killing.”
The Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester and Region said it was “appalled” by the headline, and immediately wrote to MEN editor Darren Thwaites and requested an “urgent meeting.” The Jewish group added that “the framing of the headline and the subsequent article recklessly fails to reflect the tragic incident.”
