A commemorative monument in memory of Hagaon Rav Ovadiah Yosef zt”l has been placed in front of the rov’s home at 96 Sderot Rothschild in Tel Aviv, where Rav Ovadiha lived while serving as the city’s chief rabbi.

The Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Ron Huldai, said when placing the commemorative monument: “For four years, Rav Ovadia Yosef served as the Chief Rabbi of the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo, but in spirit, he always remained in our city, a city of Israeli unity, of kol Yisroel areivim, and this exactly characterizes Rav Ovadia’s enormous impact, increasing the unity of the people of Israel. Rav Ovadia is not with us – but his legacy and teachings are with us.”

The deputy mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo and a representative of Shas in the municipality, Elchonon Zevulun, who led the effort to put up the monument, said, “Maran zt”l was the father of Israel, leaving his halachic mark in an unparalleled way and serving as a bridge between many segments of Israeli society.”
