Jerusalem, Israel -  May 21, 2017 - Crowds gathered early. Security was tight. Roads were closed. Tens of thousands gather outside of the Old City Walls in Jerusalem, Israel, for the official Yom Yerushalayim opening extravaganza. 

President Reuven Rivlin spoke, followed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who emphasized in his remarks, 50 years ago, "Yerushalayim was not occupied, but liberated."

Special mention was made of the attendance of US Ambassador David Friedman. 

However, the sound and light show projected on the walls of the Old City near Jaffa Gate, with fireworks, was the primary program. The show dazzled and amazed the spectators.
