The fires in Israel have increased in intensity all across the country. Complete neighborhoods have been evacuated, forests burned, main roads closed, and thousands are in danger of losing their homes.

Fire crews in Israel including the Army Firefighters work around the clock to contain and extinguish a series of massive brush fires.  Everyone is on call – fire fighters are working nonstop. The weather conditions are not helping the firefighting efforts.  Israel’s firefighting capacity is being stressed near to its limits; 12 firefighting planes from all over are on their way to Israel to continue helping with the firefighting efforts.

There has been a recruitment of the Home front command reserves, and the government cabinet is having an emergency gathering this evening.

This is a depression new, but here is also a story of hope of a Special Firefighter, a story of a dream come true.

For some of us the dream began when we were young boys and girls. Some of us had a childhood encounter with firefighters that opened our eyes to the possibility of being a real-life superhero.

Moshe, a young boy with an intellectual disability dreamed to be a firefighter, when his sister and his friends received their orders to enlist, Moshe decided that despite everything, he wanted to enlist too. When Moshe first approached an officer in the IDF enlistment office at the age of 18, he was immediately told that his disability would prevent him from serving.  But Moshe’s heart was set, and he said, "I want to serve in army. I want to wear a uniform!”

Special in Uniform program made his dream a reality. His now serving in the IDF, and guess what his job is? He is a firefighter on an Air Force base.

Special in Uniform is a very unique program, now operating in partnership with Jewish National Fund (JNF) integrates young people with autism and other disabilities into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and, in turn, into Israeli society. Its core belief is that everyone belongs and has the right to reach his or her full potential. Special in Uniform focuses on the unique talents of each individual participant to help find a job within the IDF that is a perfect fit for their skills and helping keep Israel safe and secure.

Special in Uniform is changing the fabric of Israeli society, helping create a more caring and inclusive society in Israel by promoting Inclusion of people with disabilities in the IDF in a national level.
