Shimon Yochai Lasri, z”l, a 21-year-old son of popular rav and baal teshuvah speaker Rabbi Michael Lasri Shlita, was niftar on Shavuos morning after drowning in Ashdod on erev Shabbos.

Shimon was a talmid yeshiva and went with friends to toivel before Shabbos at an Ashdod beach and he drowned for reasons that remain unclear, swallowing a great deal of water. CPR was implemented at the scene and he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Friends of the family refer to him as a special young man, loved by all, a masmid whose Yiras Shomayim was evident to all who knew him.

Rav Lasri Shlita lives in Bnei Brak and is known around the world for his work to bring people back to a path of Torah and Mitzvos.

The levaya is scheduled to begin on motzei Shavuos at midnight from 68 Chazon Ish Street to the Ponevezh Cemetery in the city.
