Jerusalem, Israel -  Feb. 9, 2016 - Israeli President Reuven Rivlin hosted a reception in honor of the rehabilitation social workers of Bituach Leumi, the Israel National Insurance Institute, on Sunday afternoon at Beit Hanassi. Israeli families who are victims of terror often need years of support and rehabilitation. These dedicated professionals see the families through this arduous process. 

After the welcoming words of President Rivlin, Chaya Levine, widow of Rav Kalman Levine z"l, one of the four rabbis murdered in the terror attack at the Beit Knesset in Har Nof, spoke on behalf of the families, and told how her social worker helped her through the process after the tragic murder of her husband and father of nine children early on Tuesday morning in November 2014.

Miriam Perla, who helped the Levine family, spoke on behalf of the social workers.

Moshe Avitan was injured in a drive-by shooting attack in 2009 near Kochav Hashahar.  Avitan needed a special magnifying glass to read his speech, as his impaired vision and other disabilities are still apparent. But Avitan survived the bullet to his head, and together with his wife went on to maintain and raise their family.

In the Hillel Coffee Shop bombing in 2003, seven people were killed and 50 were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near the door of the popular Jerusalem German Colony restaurant.  Katy Oliel was severely injured, but was proud to stand up in Beit Hanassi and tell her story.

The director of Bituach Leumi, Dr.Shlomo Mor-Yosef was the final speaker in the program.

In Alon Moreh, on March 28, 2002, Hamas murdered four members of the Gavish family. David and Rachel Gavish z"l, their son Avraham z"l, and grandfather, Yitzhak Kanner z"l.  Their surviving son, Avigdor, provided the musical interludes in the program.  He was able to escape the house and the Hamas murderers, and went on to compose inspirational music.
