Israeli President Reuven and First Lady Nechama Rivlin hosted at Beit Hanansi, the President’s Residence, an event to honor injured IDF veterans and others injured in acts of enemy aggression, on Sunday afternoon in Jerusalem. A choir of injured men, several in wheelchairs, opened the program with two songs. 

President Rivlin mentioned the significance of this event being held on 29th of November. He recalled the joyous feelings 68 years ago when the United Nations declared the mandate for Jewish state.  Minister of Defense Moshe Ya’alon was the second speaker. 

Video clips were part of the program, which included, Minister of Welfare and Social Services Chaim Katz, and Chairman of the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization Haim Bar. Also featured were Sagi Benau, recovering from an injury on the Gaza Border, and Uzi Mor who was injured in the Yom Kippur War and is today an educator in the IDF working with recruits.

Also in attendance was IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot, Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Dov Kalmanovich, injured IDF soldiers and terror victims, and their families.
