Senior PA (Palestinian Authority) negotiator Dr. Saeb Erekat announced on Shabbos that he remains willing to travel to Moscow to enter into trilateral talks with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu based on a Russian initiative announced by President Vladimir Putin.

According to PA reports, they were supposed to have met in September 2016 but Mr. Netanyahu refused to participate, placing the planned Russian initiative to the side. Now, with days before US President-Elect Donald Trump is sworn into office, it appears the PA is willing to involve any third party to enter into some type of process that it feels would prove beneficial.

Israel has repeatedly explained any comprehensive deal will have to be the result of direct negotiations between Israel and the PA without any preconditions, which the PA has not been willing to accept.

The PA is still looking at a French summit that Israel has also refused to participate in, also set to take place before Mr. Trump is sworn into office, with the summit beginning on 15 January.
