Baltimore Police on Wednesday evening responded to a sextuple shooting in northeast Baltimore that killed two.

Officers were called to the area of Duvall Avenue and Garrison Boulevard at 6 p.m., police spokesman T.J. Smith said. He said a lone gunman came around the corner and fired at people in front of the Stop One grocery store before running down Edgewood Avenue.

Of the victims, one man was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man was pronounced dead at an area hospital. One man is in critical condition at an area hospital, while one man and two women suffered injuries not considered life-threatening.

Aside from the surviving victims, Smith said police aren't yet aware of any witnesses to the act, and don't have a detailed description on the gunman, except that he was a black male wearing dark clothing, including a hooded sweatshirt. Smith said the shooting may be connected to another one in the area in the last several days.

"This is probably an act of retaliatory violence that we often speak about," Smith said.
