Catherine Pugh declared victory late Tuesday in Baltimore's mayoral race, a victory the Associated Press confirmed in its own projection.

The state senator beat a late write-in bid by former Mayor Sheila Dixon, whom Pugh narrowly defeated in the Democratic primary. That result was briefly decertified by the state over the concern of irregularities.

With 211 of 296 precincts reporting, Pugh led with 57.5 percent of the vote, followed by all write-ins (22.9 percent), Green candidate Joshua Harris (10.2 percent) and Republican Alan Walden (9.5 percent). Walden is a former WBAL news anchor.

All Democrats up for election or re-election to the Baltimore City Council also won. Republicans had hopes of a rare City Council victory in District 1, but Zeke Cohen is the apparent victor over Republican Matthew McDaniel.
