Two workers were injured by hazardous substance leaking from tractor-trailer that flipped on Interstate 95, fire officials said.

BALTIMORE, MD — Interstate 95 has reopened after a tractor-trailer overturned and shut down the highway Monday afternoon near Russell Street.

The tractor-trailer was carrying hundreds of gallons of polyether modified trisiloxane, a petroleum-based product, some of which leaked from the truck, injuring two state employees who were exposed, the Baltimore City Fire Department reported. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., officials said that traffic on I-95 north was no longer being detoured at Caton Avenue. "Still avoid I-95," the Maryland Transportation Authority advised, due to backups.

Officials suggested taking I-695 as an alternate route.

All northbound lanes of I-95 near Baltimore were closed when a tractor-trailer overturned near exit 52 at Russell Street after noon. Two lanes heading south were also closed as crews worked to remove the truck, but they reopened after 2:30 p.m.
