Baltimore, MD – May 30, 2016 – Today, the Tudor Heights family had the distinct privilege of throwing a 100th birthday party for one of its residents.

Spry, and funny as could be, Sylvia Schaffer or “C ME” as she likes to be called, was born on May 13th 1916 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. She lived with her parents and older sister, Ida, at 819 South Exeter Street near Lombard Street.

She graduated high school from Eastern High and began to work in a factory cleaning garments and removing cotton from the clothing. She then moved on to work for the famous Sears and Roebuck where she was complimented on her ability to “seal the deal.” When she first started working she was bringing home $7 a week. At the end of 20 years working there she was making $200 a week.

Sylvia had two wonderful children, a boy and a girl. She has three grandchildren whom she loves very much. Her hobbies include reading and any type of music from “Boogie Woogie to the Opera I love it all.”

“C ME” displays a wit, charm and sense of humor belying her age.

On turning 100 “C ME” me says, “I am just surprised that I have lived this long.”
