Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 17, 2017 - Over 30,000 runners participated in the Jerusalem Winner Marathon on Friday morning, on various tracks and routes, from full marathon to short family friendly routes. Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat participated, along with the Israeli Chief of Police, and other government officials.
There were activities and music in Gan Sacher for runners and families, before and after their races. Thousands lined the streets along the marathon route which wound its way around and up the Jerusalem streets. Impressive for many runners was going through the Old City on their way to the finish line.
This was the third year of a Family Race, with 6,000 participating. BJL found the Cohen Family formerly of Baltimore at the starting line.
International runners, thousands in Jerusalem, for some it is one of the most exciting times of the year to be in Jerusalem.
