The State of G-D in Our World - 2023 Moshe Taragin "All of humanity pass before You as sheep.. ". On Rosh Hashanah, G-D reviews all human behavior, scrutinizes our inner hearts, and determines our fate for the coming year. On this solemn Day of Judgement, we also celebrate Divine sovereignty. The shofar blast recalls historical milestones: creation, the binding of Isaac, Jewish selection, Sinai, and, of course, the Messianic endpoint of history. Rosh Hashanah is both a somber day of judgement, but also a celebration of Divine majesty and religious glory. G-D is infinite and omnipresent, but His "status" on our planet, is dependent upon human decisions and the fluctuations of history. By vesting humans with free will, G-D abdicated control of His presence in this world, deliver...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the firestorm surrounding reports that his government authorized the transfer of American armored vehicles and arms to the Palestinian Authority. "There is no limit to the fake news, so here are the facts: since the government was established, it did not transfer any weapons, no even one, to the Palestinian Authority," Netanyahu stated. Netanyahu claimed that the decision was made by the previous government led by Naftali Bennett, "What was indeed done is a decision that was made by Defense Minister Benny Gantz (during the Bennett-Lapid government) in January 2022 to transfer several armored vehicles to replace old armored vehicles." He continued: "That is what was done, not tanks, not Kalashnikovs, nothing, so sometimes the fake ...
The main ingredient used in many popular over-the-counter cold and allergy medications doesn’t actually work to get rid of nasal congestion, an advisory panel to the Food and Drug Administration declared Tuesday.  In a unanimous vote, 16 advisors said oral forms of phenylephrine – a nasal decongestant found in versions of drugs like Nyquil, Benadryl, Sudafed and Mucinex – aren’t effective at relieving a stuffy nose.  The FDA typically follows the advice of its advisory committees but it is not required to do so. The agency could potentially move to begin a process that removes phenylephrine from the market, which would force manufacturers to pull widely used cough and cold medications from store shel...
Inflation posted its biggest monthly increase this year in August as consumers faced higher prices on energy and a variety of other items. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones were looking for respective increases of 0.6% and 3.6%. However, excluding volatile food and energy, core CPI increased 0.3% and 4.3% respectively, against estimates for 0.2% and 4.3%. Federal Reserve officials focus more on core as it provides a better indication of where inflation is heading over the long term. Energy prices fed much of gain, rising 5.6% on the month, an increase that inc...

One side says the courts have too much authority. The other says the government is now too powerful. Both sides agree: the stakes are high A sense of history at Israel's Supreme Court – a country rising as all fifteen justices took their seats on Tuesday for a day of oral arguments, on how the court should rule on the move to limit the court's own power, on the balance between lawmaker and judge.  Both sides agree: the stakes are high. "Democracy doesn’t die from a few strong blows, democracy dies in a series of small steps,” said Israeli Supreme Court Justice Isaac Amit. "Why is there a need for a legal procedure or a ruling that will harm the soul of democracy?" asked Simcha Rothman, Knesset Constitution Committee chairperson.
