Seven people were killed in two related shootings at a mushroom farm and a trucking firm in a coastal community south of San Francisco on Monday, officials said.
San Mateo County Board of Supervisors President Dave Pine says four people were killed at the farm and three at the trucking business on the outskirts of Half Moon Bay, a city about 30 miles south of San Francisco.
It was not immediately clear how the locations were connected.
The San Mateo County Sheriff said on Twitter: "The Sheriff's Office is responding to a shooting incident with multiple victims in the area of (Highway) 92 and the (Half Moon Bay) City limits.
"Suspect is in custody. There is no ongoing threat to the community at this time," it added a short time later.

With the General Assembly in full swing, the pressure is mounting to get bills drafted and introduced, but it’s unclear if a top priority for Baltimore’s new top prosecutor will get introduced.
On day one in office, Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates said his legislative push included evening the sentencing maximums for misdemeanor gun offenses. Bates said if a defendant is between 18 and 20 years of age, the maximum sentence was five years, but for offenders over the age of 21, he said the max penalty was three years.
“The one thing I’ll go down to Annapolis and talk about is let’s raise that from three years to five years,” Bates said during an exclusive interview with FOX45 News hours after being sworn in as state’s attorney.

Former US President Donald Trump is preparing to return to Twitter for his upcoming presidential campaign and ditch his own social media platform Truth Social, Rolling Stone reports.
When Trump first founded Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), he agreed to a “social media exclusivity term” that required him to “first channel any and all social media communications” to his Truth Social account for six hours before posting the content to other platforms, the report said, citing to SEC filings.
But two sources familiar with the matter told Rolling Stone that since late last year, Trump has informed several people close to him that he doesn’t want to re-up the exclusivity agreement with Truth Social.

Tax season is heading into full swing as tax professionals urge those filing to get it done early this year, to avoid the knock on the door nobody wants.

New documents filed in federal court reveal why two of the members of Marilyn Mosby's defense team are asking the court to withdraw from the case. Both attorneys say representing Mosby would create a financial hardship and conflict with their schedules.
In one filing, attorney Lucius Outlaw says the schedule for Mosby's trial will conflict with his teaching duties at the Howard University School of Law. In the other filing, attorney Gary Proctor noted that he booked a non-refundable trip to the United Kingdom and that no one consulted him about his availability.

A jury unanimously convicted Richard "Bigo" Barnett on all eight counts in his indictment including felony charges of civil disorder and obstruction of an official proceeding.
