A Houston, Texas woman is being prosecuted after allegedly repeatedly breaking into and terrorizing a synagogue, even missing a court date for one incident to continue harassing the Jewish house of worship.
Ezra Law first appeared at the Congregation Emanu El temple in Houston last week, according to Harris County prosecutors. She was seen on the pulpit by a rabbi who was arriving to prepare for a bar mitzvah ceremony on January 14.
Assistant Harris County District Attorney Erica Winsor said Law had allegedly vandalized the synagogue, damaging certain objects and creating a general state of disarray, Click2Houston reported.

The United States and Israel began a massive joint military exercise in Israel on Monday to show adversaries like Iran that Washington is not too distracted by the war in Ukraine and the threat from China to mobilize a large military force, a senior defense official said.
Juniper Oak 23 is “the most significant exercise between the United States and Israel to date,” the official said, citing the enormous number of aircraft, extensive coordination with the Israel Defense Forces, and the complicated live-fire component.

Cultural events held on Shabbat that are subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, including the "Israeli Shabbat" project, will continue as usual, the Ministry and the Prime Minister's Office announced in a joint statement on Monday.
According to the statement, Prime Minister Netanyahu and Culture and Sports Minister MK Miki Zohar clarified the situation in a conversation between the two. Spotify reported in its latest annual report that it had about 6,600 employees, which implies that 400 jobs are being axed
Swedish music streaming giant Spotify said Monday that it was cutting six percent of its global workforce, the latest tech company to cut costs with layoffs.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek told employees that the cuts were part of a revamp involving a management shuffle, “and to bring our costs more in line, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to reduce our number of employees.”

The culture department of the Upper Galilee Regional Council was recently informed by the Ministry of Culture and Sports that the budgets transferred to them for "Shabbat Yisraelit" (lit. Israeli Shabbat) events are frozen, the council announced on Sunday.
“Shabbat Yisraelit” is a program which allows the opening of museums and heritage sites on weekends, including on Shabbat, in such a way that the State of Israel rewards the sites based on the number of visitors.

A nationwide power outage in Pakistan left nearly 220 million people without electricity on Monday, threatening to cause havoc in the South Asian nation already grappling with fuel shortages in the winter months.
The country’s Ministry of Energy said in a statement the country’s National Grid went down at 7.34 a.m local time, “causing a widespread breakdown in the power system,” according to initial reports.
“System maintenance work is progressing rapidly,” the statement added.
A “limited number of grids” in the capital Islamabad and the city of Peshawar have had power restored, the ministry said.
It is unclear how long the outage will last and efforts are underway to restore power to various parts of the country.

Scammers will try to trick taxpayers by phone, email or regular mail, but the Better Business Bureau wants taxpayers to be extra cautious and think twice about how their tax filing and who gets access to their personal info.
The Better Business Bureau is keeping a close eye on tax scams and fake IRS agents trying to contact you.
The BBB reports that during 2021 there were at least 52,000 reports of tax scams to the IRS.

Former President Trump holds at 17-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in a hypothetical GOP primary match-up, according to a new poll.
A Morning Consult poll released Wednesday showed Trump with 48 percent support among potential Republican primary voters, followed by DeSantis with 31 percent. Trump’s front-runner position differs from some polls since the November midterm elections, which have shown DeSantis closing the gap with Trump or taking a lead in some cases.
