Inflationary pressure on prices is going to continue, an executive from a major U.S. supermarket chain warned this week.
Prices should be expected to rise another 2-3% in the second half of this year, according to Kroger CFO Gary Millerchip on Friday, adding Kroger will be “passing along higher cost to the customer where it makes sense to do so,” The Epoch Times reported.
The White House is blaming the major meat packers for the rising costs for beef, poultry, and pork, despite record profits amid the pandemic, according to the report.
“Just four large conglomerates control the majority of the market for each of these three products, and the data show that these companies have been raising prices while generating record profits during the pandemic,” National Econ...
Israel’s defense minister accused Iran on Sunday of providing foreign militias with drone training at an airbase near the city of Isfahan, a month after Tehran came under global scrutiny over a suspected drone attack on an Israeli-managed tanker off Oman.
Israel has combined military strikes with diplomatic pressure to beat back what it describes as an effort by its arch-foe, whose nuclear negotiations with the West are deadlocked, to beef up regional clout through allied guerrillas.
In what his office described as a new disclosure, Defence Minister Benny Gantz said Iran was using Kashan airbase north of Isfahan to train “terror operatives from Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon in flying Iranian-made UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles).”
Iran was also trying to “transfe...
Tufts University police have opened an investigation into the theft of a mezuzah from the doorpost of a Jewish student’s dorm room.
The student at the Massachusetts university was woken up on September 4 after he heard laughter and “indications of potential vandalism” coming from just outside his room. When he went to check later that morning, he discovered that his mezuzah had been stolen, according to an email written by Tufts President Anthony Monaco.
"Regardless of intent, the removal of this important symbol of Jewish faith is anti-Semitic and has caused harm,” Monaco wrote. “All members of our community should feel comfortable displaying and expressing their faith, and all members of our community should respect those displays and expressions. We are a...
The stabbing attack which left two Israelis moderately injured outside Jerusalem's Central Bus Station Monday afternoon was stopped when a Border Police officer saw what was happening and shot the terrorist.
The officer told Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai and Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman, "We saw a lot of people coming out of the store and screaming, and we went in with our weapons drawn. Two policewomen entered from one entrance, I entered from another entrance, and I recognized the terrorist from where I was standing."
Two 25-year-old men were moderately wounded in the stabbing and evacuated to Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center. The terrorist, a 17-year-old Arab was taken to the same hospital in serious condition.

Yesterday, participants in the Nifgashot workshop for pre-teen and teenage girls asked Racheli Frankel if it's more difficult for her to pray on Yom Kippur since her son Naftali was kidnapped and murdered, together with teenagers Ayal and Gilad. Racheli answered: "Since then, I actually feel that I have another advocate up there for me." Afterwards she said that her family has been the recipient of a special embrace from the public ever since the "shuvu achim" (brothers, return) search for the three kidnappped boys. But she wants to give this same embrace to all those who have experienced such sadness and pain: "Not only terrorist incidents deserve the attention of Israeli society," she said. "What about someone who must deal with disease, any other loss, unemployment, or a mental hea...
US Capitol police arrested a man outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters on Monday who had a bayonet and a machete in his truck, which was covered with a swastika and white supremacist symbols, CNBC reported.
Donald Craighead, 44, of Oceanside, California told police that he was “on patrol” and began uttering “white supremacist ideology,” according to Capitol police.
Craighead’s Dodge Dakota pickup truck had “a swastika and other white supremacist symbols painted on it,” said police. It was also missing a rear license plate, instead having a picture of an American flag.
Both the bayonet and a machete are banned weapons, for which Craighead was arrested.
“This is an excellent example of the work our officers do eve...

Baltimore, MD - Sept. 13, 2021 - Yesterday, I was on my way home from Torah Institute with a carpool van full of boys when I realized that I had a flat tire! I was on Green Tree Rd and three bochurim that were walking back to yeshiva stopped to help me.
It's not easy to work on a 12 passenger van with a jack you've never used, but they didn't give up and eventually figured out how to do everything and got me on my way with my spare! Although I was nervous (they were all in 10th grade!) I was so proud of them for wanting to help and being so determined and persistent and figuring out how to do everything, even with many setbacks. (Mr Bienstock, a parent of one of the boys in the carpool, came to take the TI boys home so they weren't stuck waiting.

Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, issued a warning Monday against what he called Jewish attempts to "damage" the Al Aqsa Mosque by blowing the shofar on the Temple Mount on Yom Kippur.
The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism, while the Al Aqsa Mosque, which sits at the southern end of the mount, is the third-holiest site in Islam.
In a statement issued Monday, Hussein said the Temple Mount organizations are demanding that the authorities allow them to bring chairs and Torah scrolls to the Temple Mount to conduct Torah study at the Temple Mount and to open all gates to Jews and not just the Mughrabi Gate.
Hussein strongly condemned the protection given by Israeli authorities to members of the "extremist groups that break into the Al Aqsa Mosque every day in l...
The Gemara in Sukka 51b discusses the goings on of the Simchas Bais Hashoeva. Originally, the location for the women was inside and the men were located outside. This resulted in kalus rosh, so the Chachamim switched the women’s location to the outside and the men inside. This location change did not help until they built a balcony to separate the men from women, the men were located on the bottom and the women were located on the balcony on top. Why weren’t they mesaken that the women should not be there at all?
We celebrate Simchas Torah at the conclusion of Sukkos. Why don’t we celebrate Simchas Torah during Shavuos when we received the Torah?

Imposing “green pass” rules on certain venues is needed only to pressure members of the public to get vaccinated, and not for medical reasons, Israeli Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said on Sunday, ahead of the weekly Cabinet meeting.
Horowitz was caught on a hot mic telling this to Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, who was also unaware that the conversation was being taped and would be broadcast on Channel 12 News.
In response to Shaked’s suggestion that the “green pass” could be removed as a requirement for outdoor seating at restaurants, Horowitz said: “For swimming pools, too, not just in restaurants.”
“Epidemiologically, it’s true,” said Horowitz, adding, “The thing is, I’m telling you, our problem i...
Dr. Wlaa Khajazi, whose three aunts died of coronavirus in one week, spoke to 103 FM Radio describing the chain of events.
"These are three sisters - one was vaccinated with three doses, one vaccinated with two doses, and one unvaccinated," Dr. Khajazi, who is a senior doctor in Rambam Health Care Campus' urgent care department, told the radio station. "From a health perspective they were fine - clear-headed, independent, functioned without any limitations."
"At the beginning of August there was an outbreak in Tamra, and the three began to suffer symptoms. It's almost certain that one infected the other, but we didn't bring them to the emergency room. They reported only weakness and a light cough. They all knew that they were in the hospital but none knew th...
The final known U.S. missile strike of the 20-year war in Afghanistan may not have hit a vehicle ready to carry out an ISIS-K attack as evacuations from Kabul neared an end, despite what officials in the Biden administration have said, according to the newly released findings of a media investigation.
Interviews and video collected by the New York Times indicate a Reaper drone attack on a white sedan on Aug. 29, which the military said was believed to have been carrying explosives and posed an “imminent” threat to the airport, killed an aid worker who had no clear ties to the ISIS affiliate that claimed responsibility for the deadly attack that killed 13 U.S. service members and scores of others earlier that week. The strike also killed sever...
Catch them if you can!
A small herd of zebras have been living the free range lifestyle in Maryland after breaking out of a private farm — and apparently they cannot be reigned in.
“You can’t hunt them down. They’re just too fast, they run, they won’t let you get near them,” Rodney Taylor, chief of Prince George county’s animal services department, told the ABC affiliate WJLA news. “We do have a feeding station set up, and we’re winning their confidence. They are eating there every morning between 2am and 4am.”
The animals have been roaming and grazing in the Upper Marlboro neighborhood since they bolted — and wildlife officials are confounded as to how to capture them.

An Israeli man was assaulted and battered in the face by a souvenir seller in the Italian city of Pisa this week, with the antisemitic attack leaving the tourist requiring surgery to his face.
Elad Forgash was visiting the city, famous for its leaning tower, when the incident happened on Sunday.
He was walking through a local market and found a model of the tower that he wanted to buy as a souvenir, he told the Ynet website.
As he spoke with the seller, who was wrapping the item, the man explained he was an immigrant from Bangladesh, and then asked Forgash where he was from.
When he revealed he was from Israel, the seller began to curse and insult him, Forgash said.
“He said to me he hates Israel and the Jews because they are murderers,” Forgash said.
