At the 439th Battalion, Rabbi Lau met the brigade commander, Yotam Burstein, who told him about the brigade and battalion's work and the soldiers' high morale. The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday night that Israel and Hamas have agreed to extend the temporary truce in Gaza for an eighth day.
Egyptian officials cited in the report said that the deal is expected to involve the release of another 10 hostages, mostly women and children.

International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan has landed in Israel for a surprise, non-official visit to meet with the families of victims of Hamas's October 7 invasion of the South.
The visit will not include Gaza, which the prosecutor had demanded, and even had made a public display of visiting the Egyptian/Gaza border on October 29 to try to pressure Israel to allow him in and to speed up the pace of allowing in humanitarian aid.

U.S. forces stationed in Syria were attacked Tuesday, Pentagon officials said Thursday, marking the 74th time since Oct. 17 that troops were targeted in the Middle East.
Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh confirmed the attack during Thursday's Department of Defense briefing.
"There was an attack on Tuesday…that brings the total attacks up to 74 attacks from October 17th until now," she said, adding that there were no additional attacks over the last two days.

Yuval Doron Kastelman, 38, Z'L, from Mevaseret Zion, was pronounced dead at the hospital on Thursday evening after he suffered critical injuries in the shooting attack at the entrance to Jerusalem on Thursday morning.
Kastelman, an attorney at the Civil Service Commission, was on his way to work when he noticed the attack on the other side of the road. He stopped his car to neutralize the terrorists, but soldiers who were at the scene thought he was a terrorist and shot him.

Akiva Schwartz, 17, was injured Thursday morning by shrapnel during a shooting attack in Jerusalem.
The attack left three people dead and several others injured.
Schwartz lives in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem, and studies at the Netiv Hatorah yeshiva.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Schwartz said, "I missed the bus and waited at the bus stop. I heard gunshots, I turned around and saw a man holding a pistol. I started to run and suddenly I felt a pain in my leg. I started to limp."
