Baltimore, MD - Sept. 21, 2023 - A developing low-pressure system near the coast of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas is poised to impact Maryland, according to Pikesville Patch. The National Weather Service warns of substantial rainfall, breezy conditions, and potential tidal flooding in Maryland over the weekend due to this system. Even if the system doesn't evolve into the next named tropical storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, it's still expected to bring gusty winds and significant rain to the Mid-Atlantic. Forecasts for Maryland suggest an increase in rainfall starting from Friday night. Predictions indicate possible rainfall totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches across the area. The weather outlook for central Maryland anticipates cloudy, rainy, and windy ...

A recent Gallup poll indicates that 22% of respondents now fear technology might render their jobs redundant, a 7% increase from 2021. The concern is particularly prevalent among college-educated workers, where the percentage has jumped from 8% to 20%. From the status of fire apparatus to the people who use it, the Baltimore Fire Department gave a status update to the Baltimore City Council's public safety and government operations committee.
The most concerning comment came towards the end of the meeting as Acting Assistant Chief of Safety Member Services Thomas Tosh said the city could be dealing with a large firefighter shortage within the next few months.
"There's rumors abundant in the field right now that this January we're going to have a mass exodus of anywhere between 50 and 150 people which would cripple us if that happened," said Tosh.
Tosh went on to mention the efforts the department is making to fill the vacancies.
"We've been having classes, every time we have an opening with one class graduating, w...

Am Echad an affiliate of Agudath Israel, today issued the following statement on the protests during PM Netanyahu’s visit to the US:
As an organization dedicated to advancing the connection between Israel and the Diaspora and deeply concerned for Israel’s safety, we would like to express our dismay at the reckless and inciteful rhetoric adopted by the Israeli protest movement during Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United States.
Am Echad does not have a position on the process and content of the judicial reform in Israel, out of respect for the ability of the Israeli citizens to form policy on this internal issue. Nor do we support any political party or figure. However, we cannot remain silent when the security of Israel’s 9 million citizens is b...

The Federal Reserve kept interest rates steady Wednesday, holding off on another increase despite two consecutive months of accelerating inflation.
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the panel of Fed officials responsible for setting interest rates, said Wednesday it will keep the bank’s baseline borrowing costs at a range of 5.25 percent to 5.5 percent. The Fed in July hiked rates to that level — a 22-year high — after a brief pause in June.
Investors and economists widely expected the bank to hold rates steady in September after several months of declining job gains, an increase in unemployment and slowing economic growth across the world.
The Fed is attempting to snuff out inflation with higher interest rates without raising borrowing cost...

The Biden Administration confirmed today (Wednesday) that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be invited to the White House for another meeting with President Joe Biden before the end of the year.
Biden and Netanyahu met today at a hotel in New York City on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Biden said during the meeting: “Seventy-five years ago, the first Israeli prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, after declaring independence, used a phrase that I’ve quoted very often. He said that the world stands with Israel so that the dream of generations will be fulfilled. Together, Israel and the United States have been working together to make that dream a reality for a long time."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the beginning of his meeting with US President Joe Biden: "Mr. President, Joe, we have been friends for over 40 years. Our friendship has come a long way and it can take us a long way. I am happy to see you.
We live in a time of great promise but also of serious danger. You just spoke about this great promise at the G20 meeting in which you participated and led. You spoke about an economic corridor that would connect Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Such a corridor would make Israel a significant hub on a road of unprecedented prosperity.
I think, and you think, that we can do something much bigger than that. I believe that under your leadership, Mr. President, we can forge a historic peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Such a peace would c...
