Outraged with France's final court of appeal's verdict in the Sarah Halimi, a'h, H'yd, murder, the Union of Democrats and Independents Party announced Wednesday it would establish a parliamentary commission of inquiry to investigate the Jewish pensioner's murder.
The facts of the case are not in dispute; Halimi, a former kindergarten director was beaten in her Paris apartment before the assailant - Kobili Traore, her Muslim neighbor - tossed the 65-year-old out of the window.

Fires have broken out across the country in recent days - common during Israel's summer heat
Firefighters battled wildfires raging to the west of Jerusalem throughout Wednesday, with 11 aircraft and 29 response teams deployed.
At the time of publication, the fires are ongoing with the blaze approaching homes in Yad HaShmona and Abu Gosh, and residents evacuated from the kibbutz of Ma'ale HaHamisha.
The blaze is understood to have started in two separate locations, near the towns of Neve Ilan and Abu Gosh, The Jerusalem Post (JP) reported.

Travel warnings eased for Japan, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, South Korea
The United States on Tuesday eased its warnings against travel to a number of major nations including Olympics host Japan, raising hopes that widespread vaccinations will bring a return to normal travel.
Close US allies and neighbors including Canada, Mexico, France and Germany also received upgrades, with the State Department asking Americans to reconsider travel but ending its blanket advice not to go at all.
South Korea received a clean bill of health, with the State Department saying Americans can exercise normal precautions when visiting -- the standard US travel advice for developed nations before the pandemic.

U.S. job openings rose in April to a fresh record high, along with the number of people who voluntarily left their jobs, underscoring fervent labor demand and turnover as businesses emerge from pandemic-related restrictions and the economy strengthens.

Three men charged with two anti-Semitic incidents in Brooklyn in May have been indicted on all charges by a grand jury, reported Hamodia.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz have reached a compromise on the Jerusalem Flag March, which has been cancelled twice in the last two months.

New York City is planning a mega-concert in Central Park to celebrate the city’s reopening after more than a year of lockdowns and restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The New York Times reported that the show, tentatively scheduled for Aug. 21, is slated to last three hours and cater to as many as 60,000 attendees, in addition to a worldwide television audience. It will take place on the Great Lawn at Central Park.
