Jerusalem, Israel - Jan. 19, 2021 - On Tuesday evening, January 19, 2021, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the convened Corona Cabinet approved the Prime Minister's and the Health Minister's proposal to extend the current lockdown. The Cabinet decided to extend the general lockdown, according to the existing detailed regulations, by an additional ten days until Sunday, January 31, 2021.
It was also decided to enact two measures to ease restrictions during the coronavirus period. Business owners nationwide can now register for loans under the second round of the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) through Eastern Union, one of the country’s largest commercial real estate finance firms.
During PPP’s first round in the spring, Eastern Union brokered more than 10,000 loan applications and the allocated funds for PPP were depleted in just a few days. Many financial institutions were unable to keep up with the volume, resulting in their applicants losing out. Eastern has partnered with one of the top 3 PPP lenders in the country, who has the technology and resources to process a high volume of loans. Eastrn Union will again assist borrowers at no cost, which is always restricted as per SBA guidelines.

A California man was arrested Saturday and accused hiding in a restricted area of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport for three months. The man told police that COVID-19 had rendered him too scared to travel home to California, so he hid in the airport, surviving on food provided by strangers, the Associated Press reported.
United Airlines staff spotted 36-year-old Aditya Singh and requested identification. They said he removed his mask and presented a badge, which belonged to an airport operations manager who reported it missing last October, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The FBI warned law enforcement agencies Tuesday that the person who constructed pipe bombs and left them near the Capitol on Jan. 6 has not yet been identified and is a "top priority" on the eve of Joe Biden's inauguration, according to a law enforcement official briefed on inauguration security concerns.

As part of the city improvement program led by Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion, the municipality has announced it is embarking on a lighting project for historic buildings throughout the city.
Included in the first phase of the project, the YMCA, the Tomb of David, the Great Synagogue, and the Tower of David will be illuminated.
The project will be completed by June 2021 and will cost about NIS 6 million.

The Posuk in Shmos 12:17 says one should guard their matzos. Rashi quotes a Mechilta that says don’t read the word “matzos,” but rather read the word “mitzvos.” The same way we make sure that our matza does not become chametz, so too, a person has to make sure to do a mitzva right away. Rashi adds from Yuma 33a and Megilla 6b that from here we also learn the concept of “ein mavirin al hamitzvos.”

The first dose of the Pfizer vaccine offers less protection against COVID-19 than US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer originally claimed, Israel's coronavirus czar told Hebrew media on Tuesday.
"Many people have been infected between the first and second injections of the vaccine," Nachman Ash told Army Radio, adding that the first dose is "less effective than we thought" and "lower than [the data] presented by Pfizer."
