Residents of Baltimore County seeking a coronavirus test no longer need a doctor's order.
County health officials made the change Friday so that Baltimore County is offering COVID-19 tests at all of its testing sites without a doctor's order. Residents must call the county's COVID-19 hotline to make an appointment: 410-887-3816.
Residents who want a test must call the COVID-19 hotline to receive instructions for scheduling an appointment. The hotline is operating seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Baltimore County will continue to offer testing at the following locations:

Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly Schulz said Friday she is looking forward to businesses safely reopening in the state while her department help through grants and loans.
“We want to do it safely. We’re also tracking the other states in how they’re doing it, and it’s an all-out effort working with the Maryland Department of Health and the state police,” Schulz told C4.
The Maryland Department of Commerce is helping small businesses get the $175 million in state grants and loans.
“It’s probably been a longer process than any of us would have liked to have had,” Schulz said. “We have roughly about 1,400 business grants that have gone out, which is about a quarter of the businesses that have been in place.&rd...

A number of media outlets reported that according to studies, hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug US President Donald Trump has been taking to avoid becoming infected with the coronavirus, has caused negative side effects, including irregular heartbeats, in patients.
The observational study, published in The Lancet, involved 96,000 CV-19 carriers, nearly 15,000 of whom were given the drug or a related medicine, claimed that it hurt patients' chances of recovering from the virus.
Researchers said they believed the risk of death was significantly higher for individuals taking the drug. The World Health Organization (WHO) joined a chorus of attacks on the prospective cure, saying no clinical trials had recommended its use.

BALTIMORE — Gov. Larry Hogan's office responded Friday to President Donald Trump's call to reopen houses of worship, declaring them "essential" services.
"If they don't do it, I will override the governors," Trump said. "In America, we need more prayer not less."

President Trump on Friday announced that new CDC guidance will classify houses of worship as “essential,” as he called on governors to allow them to open “right now.”
Trump announced the policy for churches, synagogues and mosques, during a briefing at the White House.

Foreign citizens are currently barred from entering Israel. Numerous Israeli citizens have non-citizen family members who seek to enter Israel. For example, families in which one spouse is Israeli, and the other is not, or Israeli parents with non-Israeli children.
The following is the current guidance from the Israeli consulate in New York (as of April 19, 2020).
A married couple, where only one of the spouses is an Israeli citizen, is required to submit the following documents:
A clear copy of the marriage certificate

The Saudi Kingdom is edging nearer to completion of its first nuclear reactor, raising concerns among international authorities and agencies, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
New satellite images from Plant Labs show that the Saudis have almost completed the construction of a roof on top of the nuclear facility, when only in March, the structure was still visible through roof beams.
In 2018, a red flag was raised within the nuclear watchdog community after Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman said that if Tehran develops a bomb, so would the kingdom — despite earlier vows to align the Saudi nuclear program to peaceful purposes only.

Residents should consult their particular collection schedule to learn when to set out materials during weeks that contain a collection holiday. NATO envoys will discuss the future of the Open Skies treaty on Friday after the United States announced it would quit the 35-nation pact that allows unarmed surveillance flights over member countries, an official of the defense alliance said.
Senior officials in President Donald Trump’s administration, which said Russia has repeatedly violated the treaty’s terms, said on Thursday that Washington would formally pull out of Open Skies in six months.
The US move deepens doubts about whether Washington will seek to extend the 2010 New START accord, which imposes the last remaining limits on US and Russian deployments of strategic nuclear arms to no more than 1,550 each. It expires in February.
