Stocks rallied to fresh records Monday as investors look ahead to the signing of a partial trade deal with China and the start of earnings season.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was once again nearing the 29,000 level after climbing above it for the first time Friday. Both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite closed at fresh records.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The two people who stormed a kosher grocery in Jersey City and killed three people planned an assault for some time and were involved in another shooting of a Jewish person a week earlier, authorities said Monday.
State and federal law enforcement officials revealed details about the months leading up to the shootings by David Anderson and Francine Graham, a couple who expressed hatred of Jews and law enforcement in notes left at the grocery shooting scene and in online posts.

Publishing the Trump administration’s long-anticipated Middle East peace plan, dubbed Deal of the Century by President Trump, ahead of Israel’s general vote in march would not amount to interference in the process, a top US official told Axios on Monday.
US national security advisor Robert O’Brien told the outlet that the release had nothing to do with Israeli or Palestinian domestic politics and electoral processes.
“We’re not focused on the Israeli election calendar or when the Palestinians end up having an election,” he was cited as saying.
He also said that the administration was fully aware that releasing the plan would not be an easy process, with Palestinian factions long proclaiming it dead on arrival.

Agudath Israel of America filed an amicus curiae ("Friend of the Court") brief in a case before the Supreme Court of Michigan urging the court to uphold a state program that provides for state reimbursement to nonpublic schools for services provided by the schools in compliance with state mandates. In the case, Council of Organizations and Others for Education About Parochiad, Et Al V. The U.S. attorney in New Jersey and the head of the local FBI said today that the bomb found in the van of alleged domestic terrorists Francine Graham and David Anderson could have killed or maimed people up to five football fields away, NBC NEWS reports.
They also said there was enough material in the van to make a second bomb.
Four innocent people, including a veteran Jersey City police detective and father of five, died in the hail of prolonged gunfire. The Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) announced on Jan. 3 that it is investigating a complaint that the University of California, Los Angeles improperly handled allegations of anti-Semitism.
The complaint, which was filed in October by non-profit organization StandWithUs on behalf of student Shayna Lavi, focuses on a May incident in which San Francisco State University professor Rabab Abdulhadi was quoted by witnesses as saying during a guest lecture in an anthropology class that supporters of Israel are white supremacists.

The shooting carried out by a Saudi aviation student at Naval Air Station Pensacola in December was an “act of terrorism,” Attorney General William Barr said Monday as authorities released their findings on an investigation into the attack.
Barr said the gunman, identified as Saudi Arabian Air Force 2nd Lt. Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, was "motivated by jihadist ideology."

China will not be listed as a currency manipulator when the Treasury Department releases an update to its Foreign Exchange Report ahead of the signing of the phase one trade deal, sources tell FOX Business. A formal announcement could come as early as today or before Wednesday when the phase one deal is set to be signed.

Mayor Dr. Aliza Bloch held a small ceremony on Monday, attended by Minister of Health MK Yaakov Litzman and CEO of Hadassah Medical Center, Prof. Zeev Rotshtein. During the ceremony, it was announced that an expanded medical center, operating as a branch of Hadassah Medical Center, would be built in Beit Shemesh.
