Benny Gantz formally conceded defeat to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, calling the incumbent to congratulate him on being re-elected.
“With the end of the vote count and the announcement of final results, I congratulate you on the achievement in the elections, we will continue to serve the citizens of Israel and I wish you and all of Israel a happy holiday,” Gantz told Netanyahu in a phone call.
“Thank you, I wish you a happy holiday. We will restore Israel to calm, each in his own capacity. Have a good Sabbath,” Netanyahu told Gantz.
Netanyahu was declared the winner of the elections on Thursday after the final results revealed Likud had received 36 seats, giving it one more seat than Blue & White.

There is a long-standing tradition that the Shabbos before Pesach is referred to as Shabbos Hagodol – The Great Shabbos. Virtually every commentary relates this title all the way back to Yitzias Mitzrayim. The year Bnei Ysroel left Mitzrayim, Pesach fell on a Thursday. Hence, the preceding Shabbos was the 10th of Nissan. This was a particularly special day. It was on the 10th of Nissan that Bnei Yisroel were commanded to take the lamb which would eventually be used as the first Korban Pesach. The retirement of Maryanne Trump Barry was revealed in an April 1 order signed by a top court official in New York, where the misconduct case was assigned to prevent conflicts of interest for judges who knew Barry.

San Francisco - Uber Technologies Inc on Thursday revealed its initial public offering (IPO) filing, saying more than 90 million riders used the service worldwide while warning it may never make a profit due to pressure from rivals.

New York - A senator is introducing a bill in Congress requiring plane makers to provide airlines with all safety equipment now considered optional and to do so without an additional charge.
Democratic Sen. Edward Markey of Massachusetts says safety equipment that had not been installed on two Boeing 737 Max jets might have saved them from fatal crashes. He says the equipment might have alerted crews to false readings from sensors implicated in the crashes that killed all 346 aboard.

Brooklyn, NY - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has launched an investigation after a report that one of its drivers made references to the measles when an obviously Chasidic man boarded her bus.
Rabbi David Niederman, executive director and president of the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg said that the incident happened last week aboard a B57 bus. A Chasidic man in his forties was waiting at the corner of Flushing and Franklin avenues when the B57 bus reportedly passed him by. Recent visitors to Woodbury Common may have been exposed to the measles after a New York City resident with a confirmed case of measles visited the mega shopping area, according to the Orange County Health Department.
The infected person visited the shopping area between the hours of 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, the department said in a news release.
Areas the person visited included Nike Factory Store and Sayki Men’s Fashion Store, they added.

London - The U.S. Justice Department has charged WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange with conspiring with Chelsea Manning to break into a classified government computer.
The charge was announced Thursday after Assange was taken into custody in London in connection with a U.S. extradition request, as well as for breaching U.K. bail conditions in 2012.
His lawyer has previously said that Assange planned to fight any U.S. charges against him.
The indictment accuses Assange of assisting Manning, a former U.S. intelligence analyst, in cracking a password that helped Manning infiltrate Pentagon computers.

Redmond, WA - Authorities say a 20-month-old boy survived a six-story fall from suburban Seattle apartment window after the toddler landed on the roof of a parked car that cushioned the impact of the plunge.
Redmond police spokesman James Perry told the KIRO television station that the toddler “landed in a way where the car absorbed enough of the impact that he was awake and crying when paramedics arrived” Wednesday afternoon.
The boy was in serious but stable condition at a hospital.
Perry said the toddler was alone in a bedroom, while his mother and two siblings were in another room.
Investigators believe the boy propped himself on the edge of a window that was cracked open, pushed through a screen and tumbled about 60 feet (18 meters).

Scranton, PA - A Pennsylvania man created a digital image of himself pointing an AR-15 rifle at a group of praying Jewish men and posted it online, one of several cyber threats he made against Jewish, Muslim and black people, prosecutors said Thursday in announcing a criminal charge.
Corbin Kauffman, 30, used aliases to post hundreds of racist, anti-Semitic and Islamophobic messages, images and videos, several of which contained threats, prosecutors said. Kauffman “expressed a desire to commit genocide and ‘hate crimes,’ and called for or depicted images of the killing of Jewish people, black people and Muslim people,” the U.S. attorney’s office in Scranton said in a news release.

Washington - U.S. President Donald Trump said he and South Korean President Moon Jae-in will discuss North Korea during their White House meeting on Thursday, including potential additional summits with the North’s leader, Kim Jong Un.
