Baltimore, MD – Apr. 27, 2016 - A new era is beginning in Baltimore and I am very honored and appreciative to the voters for choosing me to be their voice in City Hall, and having confidence in me to help lead Baltimore City in a new direction.
I am thankful to the voters, supporters, donors, friends, and most important my family – my wife and daughter, parents, in-laws and the broader group of relatives who backed me from the start. I am thankful to the community, business, political and religious leaders who guided me throughout the campaign and gave me advice and support.

Washington - California Sen. Barbara Boxer says Carly Fiorina is the perfect running mate for Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz — she calls them “mean and meaner.”
On a conference call Wednesday she told reporters Cruz wants to ship immigrants out and Fiorina “already shipped jobs out of America.”
The California Democrat faced Fiorina in a nasty Senate race in 2010.
She joked that having Fiorina back on the national stage reminds everyone she beat the former Hewlett Packard chief executive by 1 million votes in 2010 “and I love that.”

Baltimore City police are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting.
Police said an officer shot a 13-year-old boy just after 4 p.m. in the unit block of Aisquith Street.
Baltimore police Commissioner Kevin Davis said the boy was holding a replica semiautomatic pistol and tried to run when approached by officers. Davis said himself the gun was an absolutely convincing replica.
Davis said the boy did not obey officers' commands to stop.

Washington - White House spokesman Josh Earnest is taking issue with Donald Trump’s assertion that foreign leaders are showing their lack of respect for President Barack Obama by declining to greet him at the airport when he visits their country.
Trump noted in his foreign policy address Wednesday that neither Cuban President Raul Castro nor Saudi King Salman met Obama on the tarmac. Trump says “it’s called no respect, absolutely no respect.”
But Earnest says it’s common for the president to be received by a lower level official so that the head of the government can later meet with the president more formally.

ANNAPOLIS (AP) -- Maryland elections board officials say voter turnout for a presidential primary is the highest in more than 34 years in the state.
Nikki Charlson, deputy administrator of the state elections board, said Wednesday about 1.6 million people cast ballots during early voting and on Election Day. That's about 46 percent of registered voters. Absentee and provisional ballots have not been counted.
Voter turnout this year is higher than the 1982 presidential primary, when it was about 45 percent. Other presidential primary years after that had lower voter turnout until Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — The White House was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after a man "threw personal belongings over the North Fence Line of the White House Complex," the Secret Service said.
CNN reported President Barack Obama was inside at the time.
According to the Secret Service, the suspect threw the items around 10:30 a.m. and was immediately taken into custody. WJLA confirmed the lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m.
Metropolitan Police confirmed to WJLA they were investigating a suspicious package at 15th Street and New York Avenue NW. They said the Secret Service was involved, but it was not immediately known whether this incident was connected to the White House lockdown.

Washington - Donald Trump’s rivals are running out of chances to stop him from clinching the GOP nomination by the end of the primaries.
Trump won more than 90 percent of the delegates at stake in the five contests on Tuesday. If Trump wins the Indiana primary next week, he will have a majority of the delegates awarded so far.
That would put Trump on a firm path to win the nomination, giving him more room for error in upcoming contests in Nebraska, Oregon and Washington State.
With 954 delegates, Trump has 77 percent of the delegates needed to win the nomination.

INDIANAPOLIS — Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz has tapped former technology executive Carly Fiorina to serve as his running mate.
The Texas senator plans to unveil his pick for vice president Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis. That's according to a Republican with direct knowledge of Fiorina's selection, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized speak before the official announcement.
"Carly is bright, knowledgeable, brings great financial expertise and she's a woman," said Gary Aminoff, the Los Angeles County co-chair of the Cruz campaign. Aminoff said he had also been told Fiorina was Cruz's choice.

Pesach is here, and we are halfway through Chol Hamoed. This is a little reminder for you to help you be the best guest you can be - Pesach or anytime!
As someone who has been privileged to be a guest as well as a host, I would like to suggest the following:
1. Pesach is an extremely expensive holiday. Offer to pay part of the costs of the family who will be hosting you by bringing along paper good, a monetary contribution, or perhaps some food items they will be needing, even uncooked. (I.e,. chip in for the meat, etc.)
2. Ask your host when the best time is for you to arrive for the second days. Don't just assume they would love to see you for the whole Chol HaMoed when they are in the midst of cooking and preparing for the last days. On the flip side, they might need extra help ...

Jerusalem - Amid increased visits by Jews to the Temple Mount over the intermediate days of Passover, MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) said on Wednesday that Jews who ascend to the Temple Mount are instigating war.
In an interview with Israel Radio, Gafni said that, according to religious law, there is a prohibition that prevents Jews from visiting the site until a new temple is built.
Gafni attributed the destruction of the Second Temple during Roman times to a similar failure to observe these religious bans.

Belgium - Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam — Europe’s most wanted fugitive until his capture in Belgium last month — was transferred Wednesday to France and was to appear before investigating judges who will decide how to charge him, the French prosecutor’s office said.

Since 4/20/16, there have been two residential burglaries and two attempted residential burglaries in the Pikesville Precinct. The first burglary occurred on 4/20/16 between 8:00am and 3:30pm in the 900 block of Milford Mill Road. The second burglary occurred on 4/26/16 between 12:00pm and 12:30pm in the 700 block of Westover Road. The first attempted burglary occurred on 4/26/16 between 10:00am and 8:20pm in the 500 block of Alter Avenue. The second attempted burglary occurred on 4/26/16 between 1:50pm and 1:55pm in the 700 block of Silver Creek Road. The unknown suspect was unsuccessful in gaining entry into the residences during the attempted burglaries.

Brooklyn, NY - Police are looking for a man they say is responsible for drawing swastikas at five different locations in Marine Park earlier this week.
On April 25 at about 4:20 a.m. the suspect — described as a white man — used a white marker to draw swastikas around the neighborhood, according to authorities.
He allegedly drew the symbol on a garbage can cover and residential gate near Avenue S and Ryder Street; a traffic control box near Avenue S and East 38th Street; another garbage can cover near Avenue S and East 37th Street; and the front door of a residential building near East 35th Street and Avenue S.

Tehran, Iran - Iran’s state TV is reporting the country’s president has harshly criticized a recent U.S. court ruling that allows the seizure of Iranian assets.
The Wednesday report on the state TV website quotes President Hassan Rouhani as calling the ruling a blatant theft and an example of enduring American hostility toward Iran.
Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the families of victims of a 1983 bombing in Lebanon and other attacks linked to Iran can collect nearly $2 billion of frozen funds from Iran as compensation.
