Baltimore City’s spending board approved a contract with a well-known developer in the city, who is also behind the redevelopment plans for Harborplace, to build another development in West Baltimore and lease office space to the city that will become the new headquarters for a city agency.
Under the plan, which was unanimously approved Wednesday at the Board of Estimates, will kick in $16 million of city dollars towards the $41 million project dubbed Reservoir Square that will house the new headquarters for the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development.
Tuesday, after FOX45 News and other outlets questioned Mayor Brandon Scott about the planned contract, Mayor Scott issued a lengthy statement regarding the plan. The funding approved Tuesday will “be used to levera...
The White House said Wednesday it is as “as close” as it has ever been to reaching a cease-fire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas.
“There is a good proposal before both sides, and they need to both accept that proposal so we can get this in place,” White House national security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters. “We are as close as we think we have ever been.”
Kirby added that gaps have narrowed in the negotiations and the U.S. believes a deal can be reached, though he did not offer a timeline. The gaps are related to “implementation details that need to be hashed out,” he said.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken also said Tuesday at a press conference that “the negotiations have now ...
Democratic Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri used her concession speech this week to blast the nation's largest pro-Israel group, warning them to "be afraid."
Bush — who lost her primary election this week to a pro-Israel Democratic rival financially backed by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) — warned that the group's influence on the election has "radicalized" her.
Bush called out AIPAC in her concession speech — "All they did is radicalize me, so they need to be afraid," she said.
"AIPAC, I'm coming to tear your kingdom down," Bush declared. "And let me put all of these corporations on notice, I'm coming after you too!"
Bush, a controversial lawmaker who rose to prominence in the Black Lives Matter movement, was ...

On Tuesday, August 6th, the eyes of the country were on the 1st Congressional District of Missouri to see if Wesley Bell could beat incumbent Congresswoman Cori Bush in the Democratic primary election. Agudath Israel of America and its staff were also closely watching the Missouri election results. Their focus, however, was not on who won (Bell did), but on voter turnout. An historically high Orthodox turnout.
Agudath Israel of America is a 501 (c) 3 religious nonprofit and does not support or oppose candidates for elected office. As it does in many states across the country, Agudah spearheaded a nonpartisan voter registration and turnout effort targeting the Orthodox community of St. Louis. Led by Rabbi Ari Weisenfeld, director of Agudath Israel’s office of state relation...

A senior IDF official decided yesterday on an operation to disrupt Nasrallah's speech by creating a sonic boom, primarily to send a warning message to him and Hezbollah commanders.
"We can fly anywhere at any time and perform sonic booms daily or conduct other operations," the official said.
Nasrallah himself mentioned this in his speech, saying that "Israel uses breaking the sound barrier to scare the audience."
The IDF admits that this is a psychological war between Hezbollah and Israel.
IDF has advanced capabilities
"There is a paradox here as the gaps widen. Therefore, basic tools are required. We have the capability to operate F-35 or F-15 aircraft while the other side sends simple drones flying over Nahariya," the official added.
The IDF estimated that Hezbollah ...
Intensive American diplomacy and an increased military posture in the Middle East may have prompted Tehran to reconsider a major retaliatory strike against Israel, according to The Washington Post.
White House officials told the newspaper’s David Ignatius on Tuesday that they believe that President Joe Biden’s efforts to stave off a wider war are paying off, at least with regard to Tehran. However, Iran’s Lebanese terror proxy Hezbollah “is still a wild card,” the officials said.
Iran blames Israel for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week, and has threatened harsh retaliation. Haniyeh’s assassination came just hours after Israel eliminated senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut, and Hezbollah...
Baltimore, MD - Aug. 7, 2024 - Maryland's Firearm Safety Act of 2013 was upheld in the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit on Tuesday.
A constitutional challenge brought by a group of citizens argued that the ban on assault and military-style weapons infringes upon their Second Amendment right to bear arms.
While the issue had been ruled on in the same court in Kolbe v. Hogan in 2017, the 2022 Supreme Court case Bruen "clarified how courts are to resolve Second Amendment challenges and rejected part of our approach in Kolbe," wrote Judge Wilkinson in the opinion.
New York State Rife & Pistol Association v. Bruen was decided in 2022 and essentially said states can't require people to have a good reason to get a license for a gun, s...
Baltimore, MD - Aug. 7, 2024 - After a sanitation worker in Baltimore City died from overheating while on the job, Gov. Wes Moore launched a state investigation and now, he says he’s demanding answers about what happened.
Ronald Silver II, died Friday following a heatstroke while picking up trash in Baltimore City. An eyewitness, Gabrielle Avendano, told FOX45 News that Silver banged on her door begging for help before he collapsed.
"I figured it was a heat thing just because of how hot it was [on Friday],” Avendano said. “I ran to the kitchen and got a Stanley worth of water and brought it out and was like do you need help. I saw him fall.”
Avendano said she called 911 and administered CPR when he stopped breathing on her doorstep.

Baltimore, MD - Aug. 5, 2024 - I sat down this morning and tried to write a eulogy for our teacher, our mentor, our rabbi, and our friend, Rabbi Chaim Landau. While I struggled to find the words to properly encapsulate the impact this one man had on so many, I realized where I was – the chair I was sitting in, the desk I was working on, the walls I was surrounded by – Rabbi Landau’s old office, and I noticed it was filled with ghosts.
I saw the hundreds, maybe thousands, of Bar and Bat Mitzvah boys and girls nervously shifting in their seats as Rabbi Landau spoke to them about their big day ahead. I saw the countless beaming couples discussing the details of their upcoming wedding. I also saw those same couples as they came back to that office time and time agai...

Rep. Cori Bush (D) lost her primary in Missouri on Tuesday in the latest blow to the progressive “squad” on Capitol Hill, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.
Bush’s loss to St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell in the 1st Congressional District’s Democratic primary makes her the second member of the group to lose reelection after Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) earlier this year.
The racial justice activist’s failure to secure a third House term came after her race received outsized attention for the amount of money that poured in. Pro-Israel special interest groups spent the most on the race, with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the United Democracy Project (UDP), AIPAC’s s...
