Baltimore, MD - Mar. 6, 2023 - Last Sunday, nearly 1000 parents, alumni, friends, and members of the community gathered at the Bais Hamedrash and Mesivta of Baltimore for a Chanukas Bais Hamedrash and Siyum Hashas in memory of the Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Zvi Dov Slanger zt"l. The event marked the dedication of the Bais Hamedrash in memory of the Yeshiva's founder, Moreinu HaRav Zvi Dov Slanger, zt"l, whose 5th yahrzeit just passed. Average gasoline prices in Baltimore have risen 12.8 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $3.33/g Monday, according to GasBuddy's survey of 663 stations in Baltimore.
Prices in Baltimore are 8.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 91.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 4.1 cents in the last week and stands at $4.30 per gallon.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Baltimore was priced at $3.02/g yesterday while the most expensive was $3.49/g, a difference of 47.0 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $3.02/g while the highest was $3.89/g, a difference of 87.0 cents per gallon.

The Labor Department reported that inflation remained high in February, with the consumer price index rising 0.4% from the previous month and increasing 6% on an annual basis, according to FOX Business. However, the figures were in line with Refinitiv economists' predictions.

The Ramban, in his psicha for Chumash Shemos, says that galus will not end until Bnei Yisroel return to their place and to the “maalos” of their avos (forefathers.) Baltimore, MD - Mar. 13, 2023 - Maryland's unemployment rate dropped to three percent after the state added 8,200 jobs in January 2023, according to WMAR2News. The Leisure and Hospitality sector led the way with 4,500 new jobs, while the Professional and Business Services sector suffered losses. Preliminary data had suggested that Maryland had lost 200 jobs in December 2022, but this has since been revised to a gain of 4,100 jobs, leading to a drop in the unemployment rate.

The Baltimore City Council will hold its regular meeting on Monday and a city councilman will introduce legislation to change the Board of Estimates.
Councilman Zeke Cohen's bill would create recommendations for a charter amendment to either eliminate or change the board. Any recommendations would go to voters for approval next year.
Cohen spoke with WBAL's T.J. Smith on Monday. When asked about why he would propose the bill, Cohen said it's because too much power is in the hands of one person, the mayor of Baltimore.

The Department of Transportation will send proposed legislation to Congress Monday asking legislators to ban so-called family seating fees on flights.
The proposal follows calls from President Joe Biden to get rid of "junk fees" -- including extra costs on airline tickets so families can sit together. The proposal would prohibit airlines from charging a fee or additional costs on kid's seats in the same service class as an accompanying adult.
DOT officials conducted a review last year of airline seating policies, encouraging carriers to "review and improved" their policies to ensure kids can sit near parents at no additional cost.

The Maryland House voted Friday for a measure that would create a legal framework and tax structure to enable recreational marijuana to be sold in stores as soon as July 1.
