'There is a new generation of people who believe the only solution is armed struggle' A spokesman for the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group called on Israeli Arabs to start an intifada, an armed uprising.  Speaking after large-scale military drills were held in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, Abu Hamza threatened that "the Islamic Jihad will cause the stupid enemy to be worn down by launching rockets in its direction, since the organization has many other means of warfare that will hurt the enemy." "We call on all the fighters among our people and the free people in the West Bank and in Israel to mobilize for this war, so that there will be an overall intifada that will create the basis for the end of our enemy and its expulsion from a...

Bnei Yisroel were redeemed from Mitzrayim on Pesach. The Ramban, in his psicha for Chumash Shemos, says that galus will not end until Bnei Yisroel return to their place and to the “maalos” of their avos (forefathers.) When Bnei Yisroel left Mitzrayim, they left the house of slavery, but they were still considered in galus because they were in the midbar and not in their own land. When they arrived at Har Sinai and made the mishkon, they reached the maaleh of the avos. Only through the defeat of the yetzer hora will they reach true “cheirus.”  This is the milchama that is brought down in C...

It's one of the most beautiful blessings, and it came from Moshe Rabbeinu The nation of Israel dedicated itself to building the Mishkan (sanctuary), the spiritual center that accompanied our people in the desert. Silver, gold, and jewels were donated and arduous effort was exerted until the work was complete. Rashi comments that Moshe Rabbeinu then blessed the people with these words. "May it be His will that the Shechinah (Divine Presence) should rest in the work of your hands."Moshe Rabbeinu is saying that you did not just build a beautiful building. You built a sanctuary full of meaning, values, and spiritual content. I bless you that you should see the significance of your hard work, that you should see how every shekel, every nail, and every drop of sweat created a dwelling place...

The Baltimore City Council will hold its regular meeting on Monday and a city councilman will introduce legislation to change the Board of Estimates. Councilman Zeke Cohen's bill would create recommendations for a charter amendment to either eliminate or change the board. Any recommendations would go to voters for approval next year. Cohen spoke with WBAL's T.J. Smith on Monday. When asked about why he would propose the bill, Cohen said it's because too much power is in the hands of one person, the mayor of Baltimore. "The mayor controls three of the five votes on the Board of Estimates," Cohen said. "So ultimately, whatever the mayor wants to happen is what happens. What I'm arguing tonight, and what many others, including our current mayor, have argued in the past,...

Council Vice President Sharon Green Middleton, who had previously voted against Leach, motioned to confirm her. Scott's cabinet members made a public statement outside City Hall, confirming Leach's appointment with the backing of City Council President Nic...

The Department of Transportation will send proposed legislation to Congress Monday asking legislators to ban so-called family seating fees on flights. The proposal follows calls from President Joe Biden to get rid of "junk fees" -- including extra costs on airline tickets so families can sit together. The proposal would prohibit airlines from charging a fee or additional costs on kid's seats in the same service class as an accompanying adult. DOT officials conducted a review last year of airline seating policies, encouraging carriers to "review and improved" their policies to ensure kids can sit near parents at no additional cost. "Upon review of the airlines’ seating policies, DOT remains concerned that airlines’ policies do not guarantee adjacent seats for young child...
The Maryland House voted Friday for a measure that would create a legal framework and tax structure to enable recreational marijuana to be sold in stores as soon as July 1. The House voted 103-32 for the bill, sending it to the Senate, which is moving forward with a separate measure. Although Maryland voters approved a constitutional amendment in November to legalize recreational marijuana, lawmakers left details about implementation to be decided this session. “You might not have agreed with marijuana or the vote that our citizens took, but they took it, so it’s now our obligation to create an adult-use program,” said Del. C.T. Wilson, the chair of the House Economic Matters Committee. “And it’s our duty to ensure that Marylanders can receive the benefit o...
