The Chief Rabbinical Council of Israel has issued a scathing response in which it rejects the government's plans to open the Kashrut market in Israel to competition.
"The Chief Rabbinate of Israel completely rejects this dangerous initiative of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to destroy the concept of Kashrut. The plan presented today will allow any businessman to buy and sell Kashrut on an open market according to personal or corporate interests, with the end result being the end of proper Kashrut supervision. This is part of an ongoing trend of moves against the religious identity of the State of Israel. It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Menashe Tzvi Winkler, z'l. He was 102 years old.
Reb Menashe Tzvi grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark, where his father was the rov of Machzikei Hadas.
He was one of two children – he had one brother, Efraim – and was named after his two zeides
His father, amazingly, was fifty years old when he got married. A Yerushalmi who had learnt under Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, Reb Menashe Tzvi’s father was a choshuve talmid chochom and community leader who knew Shas, both Talmud Bavli and Yerushalmi, as well as Sifri, Sifra and Tosefta. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke to Unilever CEO Alan Jope after the company's subsidiary Ben & Jerry's announced that it will no longer sell its products in the West Bank due to the presence of Jewish settlements in the territory.
The ice cream brand announced Monday that it is ending its license agreement with its Israeli manufacturer and distributor, and that the ice cream will no longer be available in "Occupied Palestinian Territory." Bennett notified Jope that Israel will not let this go without a response.

Addressing crime in Baltimore, Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby told C4 and Dan Joseph on Tuesday morning that, "What we know is coming out of COVID— it just exacerbated the crime issue the city has already had."
"We’ve seen this not only in the city of Baltimore but throughout the entire country," Mosby said while he also talked about the role city council plays with crime and its underlying issues.

Sales of Ben & Jerry's ice cream in Israel jumped 21% Tuesday, a day after the global company announced it would boycott Judea and Samaria.
Ben & Jerry's Israel, which is licensed to produce the ice cream in Israel, has rejected the global corporation's calls to pull its products from Jewish communities over the 'green line.'
"Since the morning hours there has been a significant increase in sales of our ice cream - over 21% over sales on a normal day," Ben & Jerry's Israel said in a statement.

White House official also tested positive after attending the same rooftop reception with Pelosi staffer, report says
A spokesperson for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tested positive Monday for coronavirus following a meeting last week with members of the Texas Legislature who fled the state for Washington, D.C.
Drew Hammill, a top aide to Pelosi, said the staffer was fully vaccinated and did not have recent contact with the top California Democrat, though the Speaker's office is taking extra precautions as a result.

Several kosher supermarkets in the United States announced that they would no longer stock Ben & Jerry's products after the ice cream company announced yesterday that it would not allow its products to be sold in Judea and Samaria.

Prayer vigils for peace were held throughout Baltimore Monday night. It is a community wide effort, calling for an end to violence to honor victims and support their families.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is being harshly criticized by Jewish groups for its reinstatement of an equity advisor who distributed anti-Israel material justifying “martyrdom operations” to teachers.
Javier Davila, a student equity program advisor with the board, circulated two emails to a TDSB educator listserv in May, during the fighting between Israel and Hamas.
