There is a famous story in the Gemara (Masechet Shabbat, 31a). A gentile once came to Shammai the Elder and told him that he would convert to Judaism if Shammai could teach him all of the Torah while standing on one foot. Shammai, incensed at such a notion, threw him out of the house.

The Syrian missile exploded in southern Israel, not far from the secretive Dimona nuclear reactor
A senior US general said on Thursday that he believed a Syrian missile exploding in Israel overnight did not represent an intentional attack, but rather showed a lack of Syrian air defense capability.
"I think it reflects actually incompetence in Syrian air defense... I do not believe it was an intentional attack," Marine General Kenneth McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, said during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
The missile was fired from Syria towards southern Israel, where the Dimona nuclear reactor is located.

At Fort Meade, 800 doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine were improperly handled, according to Pentagon officials.
Moderna and the Defense Health Agency conducted a review and determined the doses nevertheless pose no risk to those at Fort Meade who received them. However, everyone who received one of the affected shots is being offered a repeat dose, since it's unclear if the vaccines will offer the expected protection if handled outside their recommended temperature range.

Washington, DC, April 22, 2021 — In a letter sent today, Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV) denounced J Street for employing “an antisemitic double standard.” It rejected as slanderous charges made by the long-controversial organization against Morton Klein, President of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), and accused J Street, rather than Klein, of demonstrating ugly bias.
The letter by CJV—the largest rabbinic public-policy organization in America—was sent to Jeremy Burton, Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston. It was prompted by a petition from J Street and allies demanding that ZOA be expelled from the umbrella organization; Boston’s JCRC Council is set to meet and consider that petition on April 27.

The divided House Thursday passed legislation to make Washington D.C. the 51st state and to grant its more than 700,000 residents full representation in Congress.
The strictly party-line vote in the House was 216 to 208, with all Republicans rejecting the statehood bill, dubbed H.R. 51. The legislation has the support from President Biden but faces long odds of passing in the 50-50 split Senate.

Initial jobless claims for the week ending April 17 fell to a seasonally adjusted 547,000, a 39,000 drop from the previous week and the lowest level since pandemic lockdowns began last March.
The continued drop in weekly claims is a sign of an improving labor market but also indicates how tough conditions remain.
The weekly figure is over double the pre-pandemic level.
