Have you ever wondered how often people gossip? Thanks to a new study published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, you will no longer be left wondering. The study found that the typical person (not you, of course!) spends about 52 minutes per day gossiping. “Gossip” in this context is defined as talking about a person who isn’t present. The study furthermore showed that the majority of the gossip – 75% – was neutral, whereas 15% was negative gossip, and the remaining 10% was positive or flattering.
You might be thinking that if only 15% of the 52 minutes a day – about 8 minutes – is spent talking negatively about others, what’s the big deal? It might seem like a small amount, but multiply this by weeks, months...

New York — Twitter on Thursday afternoon permanently suspended the account belonging to James O’Keefe, president of Project Veritas.
According to Twitter, the suspension is due to alleged violations of “manipulation and spam.”
O’Keefe’s suspension comes shortly after his group Project Veritas made headlines for exposing CNN’s agenda on tape.
Yesterday, Project veritas released a clip of a CNN staffer talking to CNN’s technical director Charles Chester, who said that CNN was responsible for getting Trump out of office.
“Look what we did, we [CNN] got Trump out. I am 100 percent going to say it, and I 100 percent believe that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out,” said Cheste...

“G-d spoke to Moshe and Aharon, saying: If a man has on the skin of his body: A white blotch or a bright spot …. The Priest shall pronounce him ritually impure, for this discoloration is Tzaraas.” (Vayikra 13:1-6)
It was a gift. Not the type of gift that makes you feel loved and appreciated; but the kind of gift that opens your eyes and heart to the realities of life. The gift to which I refer was the gift of Tzaraas (loosely translated as leprosy). Tzaraas was a physical manifestation of a spiritual malady. The Talmud explains that if one spoke Lashon Hara (slander against another), they would be stricken with a strange skin disease. One would have to appear before the kohen (priest) to have the discoloration or blotch examined. If the spot met certain criteria, the ko...

The root problem of the מצרע — the Metzora is evident in his very name: צָר עַ[יִן] — a stingy eye.
One who possesses an ‘evil eye’, one laced with jealousy and contempt for all who disturb his narrow view of the universe and his machinations, will infiltrate negativity to every interaction, inciting divisiveness, stress and dissatisfaction.
Most often it is the caustic comments and insensitive words that become the agents of the evil eye that wreak havoc among society, and breed the numerous sins associated with the Metzora, as enumerated throughout the Talmud and Midrash.
Despite the wagonload of sins born by the Metzora, upon the conclusion of the suffering he must endure because of his attitude, the Talmud state...

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said Wednesday that U.S. intelligence agencies do not know exactly when or how COVID-19 was initially transmitted.
“The intelligence community does not know exactly where, when or how the COVID-19 virus was transmitted initially,” Haines told a Senate hearing. She noted two theories, that it emerged from human contact with infected animals or the result of a laboratory accident.

Chaim V’Chessed has learned that, effective immediately, entry permits to Israel will no longer be issued to student visa holders.
This sudden decision by the Israeli authorities is due to the discovery of fraudulent activity involving entry permits. Several non-students have been caught in recent days entering israel under the guise of students. Authorities have learned that unscrupulous individuals charged large sums of money for these illegitimate permits.
An immediate ramification is that student visa holders currently in Israel are advised not to leave Israel at this point, if they desire to return to Israel in the near future. It is unknown how long the permit moratorium will last.
