The UAE’s first ambassador to Israel will arrive in the Jewish state to take up his post, the Walla news site reports.
Mohammad Mahmoud Al Khajahi will land in the country on Tuesday and present his credentials to President Reuven Rivlin the next day, according to the report.

The Feb. 11 deposition with investigators from the Washington, D.C., attorney general’s office is part of multiple probes into whether the inaugural committee misspent donated funds from the record $107 million it received.

Former President Donald Trump has endorsed a former campaign and White House aide to challenge a Republican congressman from Ohio who voted to impeach him last month — his first such endorsement in what’s likely to become an effort to purge anti-Trump Republicans.

U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken came under criticism from social media users on Friday after touting U.S. relations with Mexico while posing with a Mexican flag that was upside down.
Blinken posted a picture to Twitter of himself seated at a desk before he was to meet via video conference with Mexican counterpart Marcelo Ebrard. Behind him was a U.S. flag and the Mexican flag, albeit with the eagle’s head in the middle white panel of the Mexican flag facing downward.

A federal judge in California has approved a $650 million settlement in 2015 a class-action lawsuit against Facebook over its use of photo face-tagging.
U.S. District Judge James Donato called the settlement a “landmark result” in a court filing on Friday, and said “it will put at least $345 into the hands of every class member interested in being compensated.”

The Biden administration on Friday announced an agreement to purchase 100,000 doses of Eli Lilly’s monoclonal antibody cocktail that was recently authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The move will increase the available supply of one of the few proven treatments for people with COVID-19. The antibody drugs are authorized for use in patients who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill but are not yet hospitalized.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced to an online gathering of G20 financial officials on Friday that the United States was dropping its opposition to a global tax concept that could result in levies against large international tech companies like Amazon, Alphabet’s Google and Facebook.
The proposal has been suggested under the auspices of the Paris-headquartered Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), but was blocked by the Trump administration which insisted on a ”safe harbor” for the major U.S. tech firms.

Gantz hinted at the meeting during a Zoom call with political activists on Friday
Israel's Defense Minister Benny Gantz secretly met with Jordan's King Abdullah II for security talks in Jordanian territory, Hebrew media outlet Yediot Anronot reported on Sunday.
The two reportedly held a meeting in Amman, the Jordanian capital, but Yediot did provide a specific date other than to say that the talks were held in December 2020.
Gantz, who also heads the Blue and White party, hinted at the meeting recently in a Zoom call with political activists last week while taking a swipe at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's relationship with the kingdom.

Houthi rebels in Yemen on Sunday claimed responsibility for an attack targeting neighboring Saudi Arabia and threatened the country with further assaults.
Saudi Arabia is at the head of a military coalition that supports the Yemeni government in its war against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebel group that it has waged since 2014.
"The operation was carried out with a ballistic missile and 15 drones... targeting sensitive areas in the enemy's capital of Riyadh," said Houthi spokesman Yahya al-Saree, according to the rebels' Al-Masirah TV channel.

Only Israeli nationals will be allowed to travel into the country as restrictions aiming to keep coronavirus variants from entering Israel will still be in place for foreign travelers.
"We are preparing for the return of Israeli citizens in the run-up to the elections, to this end our airspace will be open exclusively to Israelis," Transport Minister Miri Regev said on Sunday.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved – and likely ordered – the 2018 murder of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to a US intelligence released on Friday.

Baltimore City leaders are reacting with consternation to an offhand comment from Gov. Larry Hogan.
During remarks outside the just-opened mass-vaccination center at M&T Bank Stadium, Hogan said the city had gotten "far more (doses allocated) than they are really entitled to."
Mayor Brandon Scott has been asking state officials to reserve for city residents a portion of the doses to be administered at M&T Bank Stadium.
